A fuzzy, fluffy Roadrunner. I found out this is a juvenile because of his dark eyes, small crest and yes, fluffy feathers.
With my stressful, busy week that included worrying about my dad in ICU, an Xray, an eye appointment, dinner out with the ladies and two PT appointments, I can’t think straight. That’s why my posts this week consist of photos.
I found photography to be especially soothing and grounding this week. I took more pictures I’m proud of and happy to share. One of my favorite bits of photography is connecting the SD card to my laptop and looking at my captures. I never know what I’ve gotten, because I don’t look at the photos on my camera. I did get one new lifetime bird, so I’ll be working on a “Bird of the Week” challenge next week.

Another photo of the Roadrunner.

The squirrel is a talented climber and somehow avoids the cactus spikes on his tummy.

Mr. Squirrel likes to eat his birdseed on a bench where he leaves quite a mess!

A male House Finch is a pretty red and settled at the birdbath for me to get a few photos.

Which photos are your favorites?
What are your weekend plans?

I’ve never seen a juvenile Road Runner, they are so cute! I hope you have a relaxing weekend, Elizabeth. It’s raining here this morning!!
The juvenile does look different than adult roadrunners. We had lightning last night but no rain yet.
You did capture the pretty red of the finch very quickly. The weather is beautiful here. We just returned from a mile walk. Hope the weekend is more relaxing than the week!
Thanks! Good for you to get your walk in already. We have flood warnings for the weekend.
Wonderful photos Elizabeth
Thank you! 😊
Love the photos!!
Thank you!
The fluffy roadrunner is so cute! I see roadrunners often, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a youngster. Also, that squirrel must be quite agile!
That’s the first young roadrunner I’ve seen, too. I asked AI if it was a juvenile and I got all the information to back it up.
Great shots again. The squirrel on the cactus is my favorite. When I look at it, I want to pick up my feet and say, “Ouch.”
I understand about not looking at pictures while on the camera. Photos look much better on a big computer screen.
Thank you! Yes, the squirrel was something else on the cactus. He would get contorted in different positions avoiding the cactus spikes.
They’ll do anything to steal a morsel of food.
That’s for sure!
Oof, what a week, Elizabeth! I love the fluffy feathers on the roadrunner!
It’s been very stressful the past few days. Yes, I love the fluffy look of the roadrunner.
That house Finch looking sideways right at the camera is adorable! I hope things are a bit more settled for you as we move into November EA. There’s always something going on here, given the upstairs is a family with two kids. I really don’t miss those days of the constant going and while I’m always invited along, I’m getting much better at saying no thank you some of the time.
I called the hospital to check on my dad this morning and he’s in a new room instead of ICU and no ventilator. So far so good and I feel like I can breathe.
I’m glad to hear that!
👍🏼
Those are some great shots! Love the fuzzy roadrunner.
Very sorry about your dad.
*hugs*
That fluffy roadrunner may turn into a card! Thanks for the hugs.
Hi Elizabeth, I love your Roadrunner shots, not a bird I’m ever likely to see, especially a youngster so thanks for sharing yours. I collected up as many young bird shots as possible for this patch this year. Got a decent number too.
As for plans? Very rarely make any, just wake up, look outside and ….. 🤞👍
Thanks for your comment about the young roadrunner. I will check out your young bird photos too.
How sweet to see a juvie roadrunner! That really is my fave. I took today off, so I will probably work over the weekend. It is supposed to rain a lot, again.
Soothing and grounding…great advice to remember when life is swirly. Lean into joy wherever you find it. And you find so much…and share with us! Xo! ❤️😉❤️
