A juvenile Harris’s Hawk stopped by for a visit. Mostly he was behind leaves in our Mesquite tree so I only got one photo that worked.
I’ve had a stressful week and I’ve found the way I’m keeping sane is being out in nature and photographing my birds and plants. I got a call two days ago that my dad was taken to the hospital by ambulance. The staff at his assisted living found him unconscious in bed in the middle of the day covered in vomit that was black. In case you didn’t know, that’s not a good sign. The second day in the hospital, the doctor gave me a more promising update on his health. He’s coherent and conscious.
Here are a few of my photos from this week:

Harris’s Antelope Squirrel in the morning light.

A Lesser Goldfinch enjoying Honeysuckle nectar.

A Gila Woodpecker likes to eat Cactus Barrel blossoms.

A couple of bee photos.

Which photos do you like and why?

I’m sorry that he is not well. I hope timely intervention with make his recovery swift
I hope your dad improves and am glad he is in good hands being watched over. My dad passed away in the hospital but before he was taken away from me, I knew he was in bad shape from the state of his apt. nearby he rented. I came and cleaned, organized the refrigerator, and sat with him listening. He lived near us towards the end of his life in apt. nicely kept for senior citizens. I am glad he passed away knowing we were nearby. Sometimes that is all you can do.
I’m so, so sorry about your father. You and your family will be in my prayers.
I’m glad you’re keeping busy, though. The lighting in almost all of these is just superb!
Oh Elizabeth, I hope that your dad will recover very soon, big virtual hugs for you. 🙏🏻 I always like all of your photos, how do you get such wonderful photos!! ❤️
Sounds like you’re real worried about your dad. Hopefully he’ll be feeling better soon.
Nice photos. I think my favorite is the upside-down Goldfinch. I like the colors.
