There were three of these Harris’s Antelope Squirrels running around our backyard yesterday. They were chasing each other around. It didn’t look like it was friendly either. More of a “this is my territory so get lost” kind of look.
I skipped a day of putting out birdseed, so the birds (and squirrels) went wild when I put out a birdseed block yesterday.
Here are a few photos from the backyard yesterday:

A House Sparrow at the birdbath.

A female Gambel’s Quail on a bench.

A male Gambel’s Quail walking to the birdseed block.

A bunch of quail attacking the birdseed block.

A Mourning Dove jumped into the birdbath and made a splash.

One more look at the House Sparrow.
Which is your favorite photo and why?

Covey of quail is my winner.

I thought you might like the quail. I like the rotund guy staring at me.
Lovely critter photos, Elizabeth!! I like each of them the same. โบ๏ธ
Thank you. Iโm happy with how clear and focused they are.
Splashing in the bird bath!! How fun ๐
I had put my camera away when I saw that. I had to get it out again ๐
Great photos!
Thanks! Iโm glad you enjoyed them.
The bunch of quails is my favorite. An unusual sight.
It’s a usual sight for me each day! They stay together as a family and all arrive at once.
I enjoy the birdbath in motion! With the water splashing. You can tell so much about the blogger’s response as some note and some note something else. It is interesting. Sometimes I ask a question on my blog and some respond and some don’t. In the end, we own our response and it tells a lot!
I do enjoy the conversations on WordPress. You’re right, you can tell a lot about people’s personalities.
A good lot of photos Elizabeth. I like the quail walking to the food.
Thanks! I like the barrel cactus in that photo. It adds to the quail. ๐
So many creatures! I love the bird bath one. It looks like a good bath!! Stunning photos as always!
I had a birdbath before that looked great but was made of plastic. It didnโt seem too healthy for our birds in the desert sun. I love this one and the birds seem to like it better too! They use it far more.
My favorite is the dove splashing in the water, but I liked them all. ๐
Thanks! ๐
You must spend a fortune on bird seed! I like the male quail marching past the cactus. He seems like heโs on a mission. Good contrast in that one.
I put out a few birdseed blocks per week. They usually finish them in about three days. I don’t fill the bird feeder every day because the doves hog it.
