RIP Diane Keaton

“Diane Keaton,” she said.

What a special person she was who didn’t put on airs for being famous, but wanted to live a quiet private life in spite of being an iconic figure and major actor.

What are your favorite movies with Diane Keaton?

    • That’s right. I need to look for that movie. It might be fun to watch with my kids since I’m up in the Bay Area taking care of the. We watched Annie Hall yesterday. So good.

  1. What a great story EA!

It was quite shocking to read that she had passed and also that her health had been declining for some time. In related news I just watched a movie with Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin. I thought they looked amazing (of course there was lots of makeup) but was astounded to learn they are both in their mid 80’s. That also seems impossible.

    • I am up in NorCal taking care of both kids now. We laughed together over the Diane Keaton story. I’m sure the rest of the team remembered it this week, too. It was a shock to me to read about her. That is amazing that Jane Fond and Lily Tomlin look so good in their 80s.

      • I hope everything goes well in the nurse EA department. There’s been a lot of health issues in your tribe so I think it’s time for good health to prevail 🙂

  2. Love this — swimming has been such a terrific connecting thread in your life in so many ways! I can’t think of a Diane Keaton movie I don’t like. Endearing and funny…always so watchable. Xo! ❤️

  3. Thanks for sharing your story, and I was so saddened to hear of her passing too; 79 seems very young to me. She was one of my favorite actresses. I read that the reason she wore turtlenecks and hats was to protect herself from the sun because she was diagnosed with a form of skin cancer in her twenties, the same kind my husband deals with. She was a gem in the industry.

    • I’m glad you enjoyed my story. I was in shock when I read about her death. It seemed way too young to me, too. She was one of my favorite actresses too. I never heard that about why she wore turtlenecks. I’m sorry your husband has to deal with that, too.

      • I was in shock too, so sad. Thanks re: my husband, but he doesn’t complain. It could be worse; it could be melanoma which he caught early years ago and survived. That’s the skin cancer that kills. So he can’t be in the sun and he loves the outdoors. So he stays covered. Have a good evening!

    • I am so glad you enjoyed the story. I was laughing about it with my kids this week. That memory was at least one sparkle of joy within the sadness of losing her. I want to rewatch “Somethings Gotta Give,” but my son said he’s seen it at least five or six times. So I’ll wait until I get home.

  4. I love this story, Elizabeth. Thank you for sharing this.

I don’t really care or adhere to celebrity even though I know it exists, but if I had to pick a favorite, it would be her. She seemed lovely.

My favorite movie of hers would probably have to be The Family Stone.
