Mrs. and Red have shown up together a few times. I wonder if that means they don’t have fledglings in the nest? Or, have they flown the nest?

Monday I had a big, long day and I woke up in the middle of the night with a dull ache in my ankle.
I started Monday with a 30-minute walk. Then I got ready to have breakfast with a neighbor. She offered to drive me to my hair appointment and we decided to get breakfast along the way first. My hair appointment is 50 minutes away — which is too long for me to have my pedal on the metal!
We left my house at 9:30 a.m. and I didn’t get back until 3 p.m. After elevating and icing, I cooked dinner. Normally this wouldn’t be too big of a day. But right now, post surgery, it was! I had my ankle brace on most of the day and I think that’s what made me sore.
I woke up yesterday beyond tired. I skipped my walk because I had morning PT. I explained to the physical therapist that I was tired and overdid it Monday. He thought I meant Saturday, not Monday. He told me to know my limits and continue to do more, but don’t push it.
Then he proceeded to rip into my ankle with his fingers. He added one legged leg presses and few other exciting things.
Needless to say I’m toast! In case you missed it, I wrote about overdoing it last week when my surgeon cleared me to walk, drive and get in the pool HERE.

Red before he took off from our tree. The Red flying photo isn’t perfect, but I like the movement.

When have you had a day where you felt you overdid it?

It seems like there’s a lot of work to find the right balance EA! I remember (vaguely) the days of powering through no matter what but I’ve also learned that’s not always the best option no matter how much you want it to be 🙂
Exactly. I wanted to cancel PT on Tuesday and rest, but I powered through one more day. But I do know that I shouldn’t skip physical therapy.
Be patient and take good care of yourself E.A.
Thank you! I need more patience.
I think we all do at times.
So true!
I hear ‘ya. As I’ve gotten older, gracefully of course, I’ve had more days when I feel like I overdid it then need the next day to recuperate. It’s a bummer, but necessary.
Thanks for telling me this. I was feeling like I was the only one. It’s hard getting older!
I think the PT person needs to study up on his days of the week. Ha ha. Hang in there.
I don’t think he’s the best listener. That’s a skill in itself that important in so many careers. PT is one of them!
I’ve enjoyed lots of down time this summer without any recent surgeries. Listen to your body and take care of yourself, Elizabeth! ❤️
Thank you! I will. I am going for a small walk, but will not over do it!
Oof! Take care…slow recovery is best even though it’s annoying. Sending love! 🥰
Thanks! I have to pace myself which is hard. Plus, my physical therapists are evil. 😅 Not really! But they are working on increasing my strength and balance.
Sending love and hugs! 🥰
Thank you! 🥰
🥰❤️🥰
Take care dear friend. When a day like Monday happens, the next day should be gentle. Hugs
Thank you! I didn’t want to go to PT, but I have to go to get better. I’m taking it easier today.

I’m laughing about the Britney song, Elizabeth. Good one!
I think overdoing it is about learning where the boundary is and I see it as a win that you are testing out what you can do. But I hope you are also resting comfortably!
The Britney song looks so silly now, doesn’t it? I’m not taking kindly to healing, PT, etc. But there’s no other option for me!
That is overdoing it for sure. hard to get that take off photo isn’t it?
Glad you added the song as I was singing before I reached the end of the post so I had to start again 😂
Yes, the take off photo is tough. I keep trying and failing. But maybe one day I’ll have success. I just had a Harris’s hawk sitting on the fence. I took a bunch of photos and finally opened slammed the door to get the take off photo. I was too slow!
That’s a good move 😂 Try setting the shutter speed to multiple frames a second. My camera has something like 8 or 10 frames a second.
My photography professor suggested Aperture Priority. That’s what I tried. I’m not sure how to set 8 to 10 frames a second. I’ll have to figure it out.
I have a drive mode setting on my camera. I used it to get butterflies as well

Thanks for the info. My camera is really old. Don’t know if I have that. I’ll do some research.
Better to heal slowly then to make things worse. Take good care of you!
Thank you! 😊

I sympathize with you in overdoing it. I hope you have relaxed since this post and rested your ankle. It’s so easy to keep going because we have things we want to do! I did that after my heart surgery. They warned me about being fatigued, but I didn’t think it would be as bad as they said. It was. I am past that now for the most part, but I learned that when your body says Stop its wise to listen!
I had a good PT appointment yesterday. They are working on increasing the strength in my legs and balance. It felt good for once!
Wonderful! 🤗
