Red and Mrs. Among Friends

Mother cardinals are dedicated caregivers, often seen feeding and guiding their fledglings, which are brown-grey with dark beaks and sparse feathers. Fledglings leave the nest within 10-12 days but rely on parents to feed them for several more weeks while learning to fly. Parents, including the mother, frequently feed young on the ground or in low shrubs. –Allaboutbirds.org

The papa quail and mourning dove were more sociable to Red than the stuffy flamingo.

  1. I like Mrs. with all the birds at the seed block. She looks like she can’t quite believe how selfish they’re all being and just about ready to tell them to move over!

  2. I love the photo of the dove, quail, and cardinal convening… looks like they’re having an important discussion. Same with the Misses yapping to the quail. Great photos today, E.A.! They’re action shots that all tell a fun story about bird life.

  3. Wow, beautiful photos, Elizabeth! I wish I had that many birds in my backyard. Looking at the variety, I wish we humans got along so well. Nature is so beautiful… ❤️☺️

  4. Wow…that wing-flapping action shot of red atop the flamingo! Fabulous! Tell Red and the Mrs. their cousins are hanging out in our front yard this morning. 💝❤️💝
