  1. I’m finding that I need to keep my worlds separate. By that, I mean I can’t crave the best of all worlds at once. It is a recipe for disappointment. For instance, I had a great house in Hawaii. The one I have now is much more cramped and has less storage space. In California, I had some favorite restaurants that I can’t seem to replace where I live now. But, now I have fresh clean air and forest creatures out my window. When I move from here, I won’t likely have a similar view. I can’t expect the best of all worlds in 1 place. Thankfully, I probably won’t have the worst of them all in 1 place either. I just need to keep things separate, be present and appreciative of the up and downsides of each and be thankful for the experiences. I don’t know if that resonates with you, but I found myself reminding myself as I read your post 😁. Thanks for that! I’m a work in progress.

    • You’re correct. I find the similar things in my life. I loved my Palm Springs 1930s Spanish home. It was so unique. Plus the restaurants that I can’t find here. But I love the nature around us, rather than living down town. I agree with keeping things separate and being present and appreciative for what I have now.

  2. A positive attitude can be great, except when you enter a den of con artists. So perhaps a neutral attitude is best, when you’re not sure what to expect.

And by gosh, you need a Game Ready machine, darnit!

    • I do need the Game Ready! My daughter was in disbelief that PT where I live doesn’t have them. Her college swim team had them for recovery after practice! You’re correct about a positive attitude not working in a den of thieves!

  3. I’ve had great experiences with PT and less than good ones. When the therapist is attentive it worked for me, but when dude wandered off to chat with other people I didn’t do so well. Your good attitude paid off, but you have to wonder about the whole process.

    • The only time I had PT was the one- on-one experience in Palm Springs. It was amazing. This is more like a factory where a lot is up to me. If I can get attention and corrections I’ll make the most of it. When I talked to my kids, they have has similar experiences — the excellent one-on-one PT and the busier centers.

  4. Glad for you that things got back to AZ normal at therapy EA. I think when anyone is injured and not able to do their personal normal things little twists and turns get magnified into really hard things to cope with. I’ve never had to use PT for anything but I think anyone can relate given we’ve all dealt with illness at least and just want life to be normal and functional. I’m trying really hard to embrace all the new that will be home in CO and not comparing before I even get there! My granddaughter was so sweet the other day. She sent a picture of PIke’s Peak, which I will be able to see in the distance from the new house, much like I have seen Mt Rainier for 65 years here. Her text with the pic was: “Pikes Peak! The Mt Rainier of Colorado”

    • That is so sweet of your grand daughter. You’ll be so thankful for a mountain view, although Mt. Rainier is pretty spectacular and hard to compare anything to. My PT experience makes me realize that it’s up to me to be diligent and speak out when I need help. I also have to follow up and do my exercise daily at home!

    • Thanks! I looked at the Game Ready website and I could rent one with an Rx from my surgeon. I just don’t know if I’d still need it by the time it arrived! But it’s worth looking into.

  5. Good attitude and an open mind does make a difference – love how you were able to reset and do it. Game ready sounds amazing! As are your photos – as always! Happy healing!

    • It could have turned out so much worse with me hunting for a therapist who might not exist! I had to stop my husband from expressing his negative thoughts too on the drive to PT. Wish I had a Game Ready. My daughter had one at Utah for after swim practice.

    • Thank you, Brian. I’m not loving PT in the center or at home. But I know how important it is! Right now I’m icing my leg after doing PT at home and reading how to get my own Game Ready at home!

  6. First time I have heard of Game Ready. Interesting. My PT through the VA has been great. I do the exercised on my own. Now that I have a little extra time over the summer, I may return as she told my anytime, just stop by but I also use YouTube Videos to find videos of people exercising and strengthening the right hip. It works and the pug, little Razz is my best friend during the work out.

    • I was used to the PT post ski accident who led me through exercises during appointments. It was helpful to let me know if my body wasn’t in alignment or if was not doing them properly. Otherwise I might not be making progress. As for Game Ready, it’s an amazing machine. I think professional sports teams have them and most PT offices have them in So Cal. Plus my daughter’s swim team had them at her college.

  7. I would have reacted similarly to you and given them a second chance but I would have been really frustrated that day. I hope the good sessions continue (the attention/corrections and being seen at PT)! By the way, fabulous photos!!!

    • Thank you for saying you enjoyed my photos! They are helping me with excitement through my recovery days. I couldn’t face finding a new therapy place to go. Especially after talking to local friends and their experiences weren’t much improved. Best thing
I could do was have a good attitude and give them a second chance.

  8. I am glad PT went better for you but sorry about your other experience! That would certainly be frustrating! Good for you in keeping an open mind and trying again!

I have gone for physical therapy a few times. The most recent being my cardiac therapy. I am glad to say that each one was a positive experience. Very caring therapists that worked with me one on one. I can’t imagine it any other way! The game ready machine sounds great! I never had that.

    • You’re fortunate to have had great PT one-on-one experiences. That’s the way to do it. I’m wondering if it’s the population where I am. Phoenix area is more than six million. Plus it’s an elderly population and they are all in PT!
