I saw these beautiful flowers at a neighbor’s house. I’d like this plant in my yard.

Does anyone know the name of this flower?
After feeling stronger, post Covid, I’ve been enjoying my morning walks. I’ve also spent time in my backyard reading and enjoying the warmth of the sun.
Sometimes we walk in the morning and afternoon. Yesterday was a very windy afternoon. Then this morning the temperature dropped to the high 30s. That’s after a few days in the high 70s.
Adding to the blustery cold temperature, my iphone told me the air quality is dangerous. That must be due to the particulate matter in the air because of the strong winds.
So, I am skipping my walk today.
I’m anxious for the weather to get back to normal — warm sunshine and no wind.
Random thoughts:
I stretched and did my crunches this morning for the first time since I was sick.
I broke a three-day streak of Wordle in three tries. Today it took five.
Yesterday, I got a pedicure and was shocked at the price. I paid $24 in Palm Springs, but I was charged $47 yesterday in Scottsdale. I did agree to a “deluxe pedicure” so there is that.
I’m trying to get a hair appointment because I don’t want to drive five hours to my old hairdresser. A neighbor recommended her hair dresser. I’ve been texting this new hair dresser for more than a week and don’t have an appointment yet. Apparently, she’s very busy and doesn’t usually take new clients!
I’m reading “Our Last Days in Barcelona” by Chanel Cleeton. I normally love her books, but this one is dragging. I liked “Next Year in Havana” and “When We Left Cuba.” It has the same characters, so you’d think I’d be enthralled, but it’s slow on action and long on dialogue.
What books would you recommend?
Have you read Chanel Cleeton and are you a fan?
I’m glad you’re feeling better and stronger. Take care my friend
Thank you 👍🏼
Take care ❤️
Google lens says the plant is Edraianthus? Those are some major temperature differences overnight. No real way to prepare for an actual season when things change that dramatically. I have no book recommendations- I think we read very different styles 🙂 I am glad you are feeling better though and able to walk again EA!
I read a variety of nonfiction and fiction but haven’t found anything great lately. Maybe it’s me. Thanks for the good thoughts.
Ooh, that flower is a blue hibiscus! So pretty! The weather was so bizarre yesterday. I’ve been here my entire life, and I don’t think I’ve ever experienced a temperature swing like that. Also, if the stylist you’re talking to doesn’t work out, I’ve been happy with Foster Salon at Tatum/Cactus.
Thank you for the flower ID. It’s such a gorgeous color. Hopefully I’ll get a hair appointment soon. If not, I appreciate your recommendation.
I knew that Erin would know! 🙂
She’s now my Arizona plant guru.
And your go-to for hair salon recommendations, too! What fun! Go Erin!

My mom’s a hobby gardener, so I grew up surrounded by plant books at Sunset magazine, so I’ll have to give her the credit haha! 😎😎 🌺🌺
We grew up with Sunset magazines too and my mom was a huge gardener. But I was in Washington so the desert plants are new to me.
There’s more color and varies than one would expect, at least this time of year. With all the rain, there are (rare) super-blooms all over the Phoenix area right now. A friend went to Peridot Mesa over the weekend and sent some incredible pictures of fields of orange California poppies.
My husband drove to Palm Springs and drove through Wickenburg. He said the wildflowers were amazing.
According to Google lens it’s blue hibiscus. I just started Take my Hand by Dolen Perkins Valdez. So far I like it very much
Thanks for the flower ID and a book recommendation!
That is what a deluxe pedicure with stones costs in Florida for me. Great for circulation and the feet. Sometimes you can randomly get a great haircut from someone you stop by. One of the best and least expensive haircuts I had was from a chain but the stylist was from Texas and left for another salon. Sometimes you get lucky! Glad you found google lens, helpful. I keep doing my pt (35-40 min.) at home. Sometimes I take it outside with the allergies. I aim to build strength. Enjoy your day!
I have gotten my hair done at a salon close by and it’s hit and miss. More miss. The pedicure felt wonderful!
I have an appointment for next Monday. I don’t go every month but every 3 months. It is very good for the soul and my soles.
👍🏼
I am glad you have recovered. Eat good food and keep yourself well nourished. Yes, light exercises and also relax and rest. Many Blessings for good Health coming your way <3 <3 <3
Thank you for the good thoughts and advice!
Very pretty purple on that flower. Glad you are getting stronger.

Thank you! I’m enjoying your San Francisco sites.
It will be hot before you know it. I just finished reading The Mandibles. Great book!
Thanks for the book suggestion!
I’m glad you are feeling better. Isn’t it hard to re-establish your “people” in a new area? Good luck with that! 🙂
I adore my hairdresser at my old home. She’s so fun and good! When we go back, I make appointments with her, but it’s time to move on. The first time I made a hair appointment here I went to a local salon and the hairdresser had bright blue hair, a ring in her nose and was covered in tattoos. I thought I shouldn’t judge by her looks and I was being prejudiced. It turned out to be the worst color and cut I ever had!
Glad you’re feeling better. Love the pictures.
Thanks!
Beautiful plant! Glad you are doing better and able to get out for walks. We got that wave of weather after you. Waves of high winds with dust, then snow, then very cold. Should be nice again by Friday.
It’s going to be warmer today and the next few close to 90!
It took me 5 tries today also. That was tough. I am glad we smashed the competition..so to speak.
☺️
