There were a few bird photos I took this weekend that made me smile. I never know what I’m going to get until I connect my memory card to my laptop and open up Adobe Bridge. That’s the program I use to view my photos. If I like the image, it gets exported to my laptop. It dawned on me that I should backup my photos on a thumb drive! I have a bad track record with backups. Once I lost an entire novel’s manuscript because I didn’t back up my laptop and files started disappearing. I contacted Apple and they couldn’t recover my files and they suspected it was a hardware issue.
The photo above is a Gilded Flicker and it made the cut.

This House Sparrow at the birdbath was a saver, too.

Here he is getting a sip of water after a rainy day.

I had another visit by a Lesser Goldfinch. I wrote about them for Bird of the Week after my first encounter with this tiny little bird. Here are a few more photos:

This photo gives perspective of the size of Lesser Goldfinch next to a House Sparrow. Prior to seeing Lesser Goldfinches, the sparrow was one of the smaller species we had in our yard.

The Lesser Goldfinch is getting ready to make her move!

There she goes!
I hope you enjoyed my photos today. I welcome your feedback.
Which ones did you like and why?

Flickers are fun to watch. They really do flick…
Yes. They are fascinating to watch.
Excellent pics and beautiful birds Elizabeth.
Thank you! I enjoy watching and photographing them so much.
I think this is a hobby that suits you the best.
I find it very satisfying and relaxing.
That’s awesome 🤩
I like the goldfinch! Sometimes if you go to a small independent store they can retrieve your files. I can’t imagine doing that over the phone or online. Or at least they can show you a few new things. I have been meaning to do this with a few questions. We have a good mom and pop store nearby.
I had Apple people on my computer remotely. They obviously knew what the problem was but the files were not retrievable. They worked on it for four days. I don’t have anyone local unfortunately.
Wow, excellent photos, Elizabeth!! So sweet and beautiful. 😍❤️
Thank you! I was pleasantly surprised with these.
Love the finch and you did a great job getting the size comparison!
They were sitting side by side for quite a while. The sparrow looks so big in comparison.
They’re all so lovely, but the tiny goldfinch is especially cute. ❤️
I was so excited to see three of them at the bird bath, but I was only to capture one with my camera.
Oh my! I love all of these (and will be sharing with Lisa, too) but I’ve gotta say, that last pic with the caption stole my heart. Thanks for the theme song for the rest of my day! I love the song from the 80s from The La’s — “There She Goes”. Perfect for your pic as a caption and a tune! 💝😊💝
Thank you so much! I love that you’re sharing my photos with Lisa. Also, I love the song “There She Goes.” How fun that you brought it up! 💕
Big hugs! ❤️😉❤️
I posted the Lesser Goldfinch on Instagram along with the song! Thanks for the idea! 😊
I just saw it! Totally random – looked at my phone and voila! So fun! 😉😎😉
Yay! 😀 I learned that you can’t add music to posts via laptop. Only on the mobile version. I wonder why?
Great question! I’ve wondered that, too! I’ve gotten so used to using my phone I’ve forgotten if there’s a reason! 😜
My photos are on my laptop, not my phone. So I had to transfer them to get the music! 😉
Ohhhh! Yep! You’re right! An extra step for sure! ❤️😉❤️
But worth it! 😊
Definitely!!!! ❤️😉❤️
💕💕
What a gift it must be to open the photos to go through them. So many good ones. We stayed at a cabin this past weekend that had a very busy birdfeeder so that there were as many as 7 at once. I wondered what you could do with that scene!
It is a gift to go through the photos and discover some good ones. That sounds like a fun weekend. I’d love to see the bird feeder action.
These are so good. I enjoy discovering the photos on the big screen as well. Yes, make sure you have a back-up plan
Thanks! I backed up my laptop today. I just have to remember to do it again soon. Maybe a reminder on my calendar. 😊
Good idea
I really liked the series of the goldfinch. You really are taking magnificent shots.
Thanks so much. I’m
excited by some of some photos I see on Adobe Bridge. I give credit to Gary Gruber, a photographer I worked with in my early days of PR who gives me hints of how to improve.
