A photo I took of Red on his flamingo buddy the day before we left.
Travel day turned out to be uneventful, thankfully. There wasn’t a single delay or cancelled flight on the boards when we arrived. We got through TSA in a snap. Waffles was a trooper and besides finding the one stray M&M under a seat in the airport, he was well behaved.
After asking my husband repeatedly if he had packed his swimming trunks, when I unpacked at the hotel, I realized that I had forgotten my swim suit. The hotel has an amazing spa with a steam room, jacuzzi and pool. I was looking forward to daily lap swimming and enjoying the luxury of soaking in their various tubs and using the steam room and sauna.

Where I sat outside with Waffles waiting for a friend of my daughter’s to pick him up for a week. This was outside the hotel with a view of the Golden Gate Bridge in the distance. My daughter needs one more week to heal from her shoulder surgery before she can take care of Waffles the pug.

Sunrise view from our bedroom at home before we left for the airport.

Ginger snaps and chocolate chunk cookies my son baked for us the day before his surgery.
I lost a lot of sleep over travel worries and worry about my son. Although he’s in a lot of pain post surgery, the doctor said it went well.

Sending prayers for quick recovery for your son Elizabeth. Hope this trip goes well. Hugs
Thank you! It’s hard to see your child in so much pain.
Very hard. It seems that we, our self are experiencing that pain.
Definitely! It’s not easy. Thankfully, today he is in less pain than the first day.
Hope the pain gets better quickly.
Thanks!!
🤗
Glad to hear you arrived without incident- except for the forgotten swim suit 😉 Sound like daughter is doing well and I hope son does the same once the first few recovery days pass.
Thanks! The early morning flight helped. There weren’t any delays yet. Thanks for the well wishes for my kids.
I’m glad that your travels went very well, wonderful!!
Me too! It was easy.
Excellent!
😊
I’m so glad to hear travels went smoothly and that your son’s recovery is going smoothly. Keep hanging in there!
Thanks! I think the worst part of the trip so far was handing off Waffles to a friend of my daughter’s. Waffles stared out the car window at me and I felt so sad! Hopefully in a day or two my son’s pain will lessen.
Poor Waffles! Hopefully, he settles in and gets extra treats and belly rubs with his new friend.
He did stay with them while I was taking care of my daughter post shoulder surgery. My son is too allergic of dogs and cats and couldn’t have Waffles around. So Waffles knows what he’s getting in for, but he looked abandoned!
Your son baking cookies for you 💜
I’m glad you got there safely. Sending you all love.
Thanks! 💕They are amazing cookies! He has a cookbook called “The Perfect Cookie.”
Thank you so much for the update. I hope your son continues to heal well and the pain lessens. So glad to hear you had an uneventful travel day…maybe Red’s send-off atop his flamingo friend was a good omen? Sending hugs! 💝😉💝
I like that idea of Red’s sendoff being a good omen. It most certainly was! My son is much better than his first day. Thanks for your thoughtful and kind words! 🥰
Much love, much love! ❤️🥰❤️
💕
I’m so fascinated by our intuition – it seems like you knew something was up about the bathing suits, but just hadn’t figured out what. I hope you find a way to soak and swim anyway. And I’m so glad that your travel was uneventful. Wishing your son a speedy recovery!
Thank you! Yes, I remember going to my swimsuit drawer and getting distracted before I opened it. I definitely knew that something was up. Thanks for your get well wishes for our son!
Hoping all goes well!
So far, so good!
Your son baked for you? That’s so sweet! I hope the cookies aid in his recovery and all goes smoothly.
He’s an amazing cookie baker. He is so precise that he uses a thermometer in the oven, because he doesn’t believe the controls are accurate! We are loving the cookies.
A good uneventful day. Looks like someone will be in the spa naked 😂
Perhaps for the jacuzzi and steam room in the women’s locker room. For the lap swimming, I’ll wait to buy a suit! It was great that our travel day was so calm.
A good excuse to new swimmers
Wishing you and your family all the best.
Thanks!
I’m glad everything went well. P.S. Buy yourself a swimsuit. You deserve some me-time.
I agree to buy a new suit. I have looked at the boutiques in the hotel and they are ugly and way overpriced. I ordered two online and they were supposed to come in one day and haven’t….Maybe tomorrow or I’ll have to take an Uber to buy a suit.
Uneventful! Yay! Glad everything looks to have worked out.
Thanks! I think so many people decided to not travel and it turned out okay.
So glad to hear it all went well—travel and surgery. That photo of Red is a showstopper! I know it’s a family care visit, but do enjoy your time together and chill.
Thanks for the great comment about my last Red photo. My photography professor encouraged me to use Adobe Camera Raw and it really helps with the color and exposure. We are enjoying spending time with our kids. We don’t get much time to do that.
Beautiful post.
👍🏼
Have a great day dear mam 🤗🤗.
That photo of Red is wonderful, and I hope your son’s pain diminishes soon. I know that bridge 🙂 and the sunrise is stunning! Before the rain arrived, the sunrises have been like yours. I took a few pics, but power lines were in the way. So I won’t share them, but the sky was gorgeous. The sweets look delicious too, and how sweet of your son to do that. ❤️
Thanks for enjoying my photos. What a rainy day we had today! I was trying not to panic in the Lyft to my son’s apartment with all the rain and water on the freeway.
You’re welcome, and I’m the same with heavy rain and freeways.
It’s funny about you forgetting YOUR bathing suit. I hope you grabbed one so you could get in some swims and sauna time.
I’m glad you had no issues traveling. Don’t you wish we didn’t have to worry about so many things? It isn’t very pleasant to me, and I will never get that time back.
I’m glad everyone is on the other side of surgery; let the healing begin.
Thanks for the good thoughts on everyone healing. I ordered a suit on Amazon and it arrived the next day. So I did enjoy sauna and spa time. Although it was raining outside so I skipped laps. The jacuzzi, sauna and steam room were inside the women’s locker room.
It seems the airlines are back to normal, except for weather delays.
Love the photo of Red and the sunset!
How sweet of your son to bake cookies before his surgery!
Thanks! My son is an amazing baker. Those cookies kept me going!
😋 Awesome. Did he get his skills from you? 🙂
I do cook a lot and did with my kids. But he’s much more exacting than me. For example, he puts a thermometer into the oven because he doesn’t trust the controls. That way he has the correct oven temperature.
Kudos to you in helping to give him a love for cooking! 🙂
Thank you! I have happy memories cooking with my family.
That is great! 💕
Great piece! I love the ironic twist at the end—the repeated concern about your husband’s trunks while forgetting your own suit is perfectly relatable. The specific details, like Waffles finding that stray M&M, really bring the narrative to life. Smooth writing with an engaging payoff.
Thank you! I’m so glad you enjoyed my writing.
Sweet! That looks so cool.
😊
