Travel Day

  1. Glad to hear you arrived without incident- except for the forgotten swim suit 😉 Sound like daughter is doing well and I hope son does the same once the first few recovery days pass.

  2. I’m so glad to hear travels went smoothly and that your son’s recovery is going smoothly. Keep hanging in there!

    • Thanks! I think the worst part of the trip so far was handing off Waffles to a friend of my daughter’s. Waffles stared out the car window at me and I felt so sad! Hopefully in a day or two my son’s pain will lessen.

      • Poor Waffles! Hopefully, he settles in and gets extra treats and belly rubs with his new friend.

      • He did stay with them while I was taking care of my daughter post shoulder surgery. My son is too allergic of dogs and cats and couldn’t have Waffles around. So Waffles knows what he’s getting in for, but he looked abandoned!

  3. Thank you so much for the update. I hope your son continues to heal well and the pain lessens. So glad to hear you had an uneventful travel day…maybe Red’s send-off atop his flamingo friend was a good omen? Sending hugs! 💝😉💝

  4. I’m so fascinated by our intuition – it seems like you knew something was up about the bathing suits, but just hadn’t figured out what. I hope you find a way to soak and swim anyway. And I’m so glad that your travel was uneventful. Wishing your son a speedy recovery!

    • Thank you! Yes, I remember going to my swimsuit drawer and getting distracted before I opened it. I definitely knew that something was up. Thanks for your get well wishes for our son!

    • He’s an amazing cookie baker. He is so precise that he uses a thermometer in the oven, because he doesn’t believe the controls are accurate! We are loving the cookies.

    • I agree to buy a new suit. I have looked at the boutiques in the hotel and they are ugly and way overpriced. I ordered two online and they were supposed to come in one day and haven’t….Maybe tomorrow or I’ll have to take an Uber to buy a suit.

  5. So glad to hear it all went well—travel and surgery. That photo of Red is a showstopper! I know it’s a family care visit, but do enjoy your time together and chill.

    • Thanks for the great comment about my last Red photo. My photography professor encouraged me to use Adobe Camera Raw and it really helps with the color and exposure. We are enjoying spending time with our kids. We don’t get much time to do that.

  6. That photo of Red is wonderful, and I hope your son’s pain diminishes soon. I know that bridge 🙂 and the sunrise is stunning! Before the rain arrived, the sunrises have been like yours. I took a few pics, but power lines were in the way. So I won’t share them, but the sky was gorgeous. The sweets look delicious too, and how sweet of your son to do that. ❤️

  7. It’s funny about you forgetting YOUR bathing suit. I hope you grabbed one so you could get in some swims and sauna time.
I’m glad you had no issues traveling. Don’t you wish we didn’t have to worry about so many things? It isn’t very pleasant to me, and I will never get that time back.
I’m glad everyone is on the other side of surgery; let the healing begin.

    • Thanks for the good thoughts on everyone healing. I ordered a suit on Amazon and it arrived the next day. So I did enjoy sauna and spa time. Although it was raining outside so I skipped laps. The jacuzzi, sauna and steam room were inside the women’s locker room.

It seems the airlines are back to normal, except for weather delays.

  8. Great piece! I love the ironic twist at the end—the repeated concern about your husband’s trunks while forgetting your own suit is perfectly relatable. The specific details, like Waffles finding that stray M&M, really bring the narrative to life. Smooth writing with an engaging payoff.
