“There goes the neighborhood.” Mrs. leaves the birdseed block when a neighbor takes over.
While I’m up in the San Francisco area taking care of my children, I didn’t bring my camera or lenses. I did have some photos downloaded to my laptop of Red and Mrs. that I didn’t get a chance to look at before I left home.
I have taken a few photos with my iphone at my favorite grocery store called Berkeley Bowl, which was built in a former bowling alley, hence the name. I’ve written about Berkeley Bowl before HERE.

Here are a few views from Berkeley Bowl this week. Look at this variety of pumpkins at the entrance to the grocery store!

Sweet potatoes anyone?

Pomagranites, melons, apples and more.
More backyard bird buddies:

I was pleasantly surprised with how crisp and clear my photos of Red, Mrs. and a Mourning Dove turned out. I took these the day before I left to take care of my daughter.

Mrs. and her new pal Papa Quail. He doesn’t want to leave her side!

What a handsome guy! I worry that when I’m out of town, my Red and Mrs. will leave. My husband has assured me that he’s making sure they are well fed. They should be in my backyard when I come home.

A Mourning Dove fluffs up his feathers after a rain.
Happy Friday everyone! What plans do you have for the weekend? What’s your weather like?

Wow, great looking store! Happy Friday! Weather is beautiful!
Berkeley Bowl is incredible and prices are good too.
It really looks incredible!
Berkeley Bowl has hot foods too of different ethnicities, an amazing bakery and deli, best seafood selections and all such a selection of dry goods and frozen foods. I wish I had one where I live!
We have a few groceries like that in the Tampa Bay are catering to different ethnicities, bakery, and delis. Our area has many Asian, Middle Eastern, and island stores. Also Eastern European and German. It is pretty convenient. We are a little spoiled.
Not usually under the same roof but mom and pop stores and in close proximity. It is a very diverse neighborhood.
That’s so nice you have all of those ethnic foods nearby. It’s really a special treat to have it all at the Berkeley Bowl. Where we live in Arizona, our area is mostly midwesterners there to escape the winter, so not much diversity of foods.
Wonderful grocery store, enjoyed the photos.
My son took me shopping there the first day to have a few things in my fridge at the Airbnb. I’ve been living off yogurt, berries, and a few other items all week.
Sending hugs! Thanks for the pics…hope all is going well. And hubby’s right. Red and the Mrs. will be ready to welcome you home! 😉💝😉
Thanks! I am excited to get home for a little bit! We’re waiting to find out my son’s surgery date and then I’ll be coming back. I can’t wait to get back to taking photos of Red and Mrs. 💕
Sending love! 🥰❤️🥰
Thanks so much!! 💕💕
I’m envious of that store!
It’s the youngest grands 10th birthday so there’s stuff going on around that but tomorrow daughter, oldest grand and I are going to go to a local No Kings protest nearby for a bit. Our overnights are turning really cold and the eastern plains had a tornado warning in place for an hour or so last night.
That sounds like a wonderful time with your grandkids. We had a tornado warning in Berkeley the other day! Thankfully it turned out to be light rain. I love the store and after my son picked me up at the airport, he took me there for groceries. I got hot clam chowder that I had for dinner and sourdough rolls for two days! Yum. Just as good as anything from Washington.
That’s some impressive produce at the Bowl.
And those taters are screaming for pie!
I never knew there were so many varieties of sweet potatoes! They also have about ten different varieties of chanterelle mushrooms!
Now that sounds marvelous!
👍🏼
beautiful picture 👌
Thanks! 😊
If Red and Mrs. decide to leave, what a way to go out. The last pic in your selection of Red is my all time favorite. I know I’ve said that before, but this one is it. HIs Red feathers jump off the screen. So crisp, so clear. You can even see up close on his feet and feathers in his crown. Wow. A really cool pix.
Thanks! I was really excited about that photo, too. It is one of the better ones, if not the best. 😊
It’s so clear. Like he’s three feet away from you. Wow.
I really like all of your feathered friend photos (even though I don’t comment very often). I was away from home all of September, and can’t seem to attract the birds back. A lack of water and food I think made them fly elsewhere. Hopefully they will return, I miss looking at them out my kitchen window.
Thank you for your comment. It’s so nice to know someone is enjoying my birds, even if you don’t comment often. Hopefully, your birds will come back now that you’re home.
It’s supposed to get to 71 on Sunday….im going to a Jane Austen panel tomorrow which includes a great to the 5th power niece of Jane. Seeing an off broadway show, and taking a cruise on Hudson to see leaves. Tonight I made pasta and going to watch the Brett Goldstein Roman e movie on apple
That sounds like a busy but fun weekend. I’m flying home tomorrow with my daughter’s pug Waffles. I’m supposed to take care of him for six weeks, but if my son has surgery soon, I’m bringing Waffles back with me. A neighbor of my daughter’s will take Waffles and I’ll take care of my son.
Too much surgery and recovery for you!!
That last, close-up photo of Red is my favorite so far! That grocery looks awesome.
Thanks! That photo of Red is one of my all time favorites, too! I wish I had that grocery store where I live. But at least I visit it when I see my kids.
I could easily shop there. I like the photos of Red and the missus
Your bird friends are beautiful! I love the photos of your grocery store. What an abundance of produce! The potatoes photo is particularly pleasing, all those neat stacks and rows.
Thanks! I’m so glad you enjoyed my photos. Thanks for the kind words!
Great photos, and that store looks like a lot of fun!
I’m always behind in reading, so maybe you asked about last weekend? HAHA!
Our weather is still very warm, but it’s getting nicer each day, with a little less humidity.
I’m glad you enjoyed my photos! The weather was beautiful in Berkeley, except for one rainy day. We had rain and storms in Arizona while I was in California. Now that I’m home, it’s gorgeous.
That store looks amazing! I hope your daughter is healing well. 💗
Love the birds. They are great, especially Mr Reds hair do. 😉
Great pictures Elizabeth
Thank you! I wish I had that store in my neighborhood.
You’re welcome
😊
I’m behind on reading blogs, but it’s Friday again. 🙂 What an awesome store and loved all your photos, Elizabeth. Have a great weekend!
I’m glad you’re catching up on reading and that you enjoyed my Berkeley Bowl photos. Is Berkeley close to you?
I wouldn’t say catching up. 🙃 About a half hour away.
You’ll have to go to Berkeley Bowl when you’re in the area. They have the best produce and great prices. There are two stores. We’ll have to meet some time when I’ve visiting my kids and not taking care of them post surgery!
Sounds like The Bowl is a place to visit! And sounds good about meeting. 🙂 Just let me know and give me a little time to plan. We’re still working, so the weekends are for fun. Hope your kids are doing better!
