I loved how this quail kept watch over his family. His wife and a baby are below him. There were three other babies who were very bold and not close to his watch but mingling with doves.

One of the bold babies.

Red and Mrs. have been visiting each day, but not at the same time. I’m waiting to see some fledglings.

Mrs. enjoying some birdseed. Thanks to photographer Bushboy, I did return to a mix of birdseed rather than using straight sunflower seeds. He warned that sunflower seeds are not as healthy for my bird buddies. But it seems Red and Mrs. pick out the sunflower seeds from the mix.

Red with a sunflower seed.

Not a bird buddy, but a Desert Spiny Lizard found a bit of shade next to a planter.
How’s you week going so far?

The baby Quail are so cute. They will go for the sunflower seeds first as they are used to them. Once those are all gone they should eat the others seeds as well.
The birds here eat the sunflower seeds first but always leave the corn
Baby quail are so adorable. There are two chipmunks who eat the corn that gets left behind.
Now you have to get photos of the Chipmunks. They look so adorable
I got some today! I’ll post them Friday or Monday.
So far so good. Read Amy tans book. I think you could do something like she did but your own spin
Thanks! I will have to read Amy Tan’s book. It sounds like it is something I might work on for my photography workshop starting in September.
Yes!!
I’m in love with your quail.
What fun backyard visitors…
💕
The quail were my favorites until Red showed up. I love the summer when they have their babies.
I like the look on the face of the Desert Spiny Lizard. 😀
The lizard is a character. He is appearing most days to be part of the backyard buddies.
Cute critters!! Quail are so pretty. 😍
Thanks! The quail keep me entertained.
🥰☺️☺️☺️
😊
Wow, you have a whole show in your back yard. I love the baby quail picture. When we were leaving Bend last weekend I saw a quail on top of a rock. Your picture makes me wonder whether he was watching out for a brood below! Beautiful pictures, Elizabeth!
Thank you so much! The quail are so fascinating to watch. I look forward to quail babies each spring and summer.
These baby quails are so adorable. Waiting to see little reds too.
Thanks! I am waiting for the baby reds, too! I hope they bring them into our yard soon. 😊
Awesome ❤️❤️❤️
💕
All of these are terrific shots! Nice!
Thank you! Photography is a new hobby of mine and I’m really enjoying it.
The never fail to entertain. Ha, ha.
Photography is helping me stay busy while I’m recovering. Also, I learning photoshop which I’m supposed to know September when my workshop starts.
I love your cardinal couple!
They are my favorites! It’s such a joy to see them.
I’m a big fan of my yard lizards… but they aren’t nearly as colorful as your Desert Spiny Lizard.
We have some little boring lizards too. They have very long tails. All our lizards in Palm Springs were tailless, thanks to our cat!
I like how lively your yard is. We had a rabbit visitor yesterday (very rare) a mule deer, the usual rodents and bird. The hummingbird feeders are starting to draw quite the crowd! Soon we’ll be going through at least a half-gallon a day or more.
That sounds like fun and a nice variety of visitors. I gave up on the hummingbird feeder when a Gila woodpecker attached himself to it each day and drained it!
Great photos, Elizabeth, and the lizard at the end was a fun ending to the selection.
I’m so glad you enjoyed my photos. 😊
Always! 🙂
🥰
Such a colorfull buddies 🙂
They are! I enjoy them so much!
