I did it! My website featuring my photography greeting cards is live! Two friends of mine who were graphic designers I worked with during my PR days, pre kids, suggested I turn my nature photography into greeting cards. We live within a few miles of each other all these years later. They’ve been very supportive and full of ideas for me.
I jumped in and applied for a business license. I signed up to create a website. I ordered a few test cards of Red. I fiddled with different weights of card stock and finishes. I liked the look of glossy cards, but as a left-handed person, my writing smeared. I tried to order a card that I could write on and have my penmanship legible. Lots of little tweaks and more ordering cards.
Then I tinkered with the website itself. Lots of revising, editing and more editing. Deciding what photos I wanted to create cards with. I used Squarespace for the first time and the learning curve was doable but not foolproof.
When I finally published my website this week, I placed a test order. It didn’t work. I spent several hours with their AI chat bot. I followed all the directions, but nothing happened. Then AI said they’d send me to a real person! Woohoo! It took them less then two minutes to figure out my issue and now I’m in business.
The next step is to go in person to local gift stores with a few packets of card to see if they’ll accept my cards for sale. Yes, that makes me more than a little nervous…
When my son was in middle school and high school, he created and managed our swim team’s website. Back then, when he’d make a change he’d have to upload the whole site which would take six to eight hours. Now I can make a change to and it’s done instantly.

You’re more than welcome to check out my website HERE.

Congratulations, Elizabeth! That’s a beautiful website! Best wishes for you. ❤️☺️
Thanks! I’m glad you like the website. I worked on it slowly over a couple months.
Congratulations dear friend. Lovely photos. Wishing you all the best
Thank you. Building the website was a bit of a challenge. The cards are much easier to create.
Oh I do understand. All things tech are challenging for me too.
Thankfully, the website company has customer support!
That’s great.
😊

Congrats EA! I’ll take a look at the website later today 🙂
I just took a moment to look at the site- amazing EA! You have so much opportunity to expand on this with your photography skills. I see an entire Sonoran desert line, and even more of the flora and fauna that lives around you, maybe even some of your beach photos. I think you’ve created something wonderful and have so many options going forward 🙂
Thank you for your encouragement. I have two dozen cards laid out, ready to go. But before I have more printed, I decided to start out with six cards in the beginning. I’m getting them printed through Canva and want to see how they do.
Thanks! I was a little nervous going public. 😊
These are wonderful. The husband and I are looking at them. He might have a couple of questions for you.
Thanks for the encouraging words.
Oh wow. The female cardinal with the spread wings is fantastic! Are the cards the kind that open up? Can we personalize what the inside says?
Yes, the cards are blank inside with a photo on the front and a little info on the back. Thank you so much!
Thank you for my first order 😊
Congratulations, EA! You did it! I will go look at your site right away!
😊
They are beautiful! I will be ordering!
Thank you so much for your kind words and support!
You’re so welcome!
😊
Trump wants AI to be called “Superior Intelligence.” From what you said about your experience, maybe “Inferior Intelligence” would be more accurate.
Good luck with your greeting card business!
True. It was amazing how the real person could solve my issue within minutes. The AI bot kept sending me links to their help site without analyzing what my problem was on my site.
That looks great!
Wishing you many customers and much success.
😊
Thanks! I’ve been having fun with this project creating cards from my photography. The website was a little more difficult.
Good luck! Your photos are so pretty and they make great cards.
Thank you! 😊
Your site is beautiful!! Incredible work, Elizabeth!
Thank you! I have been insecure about what I’m doing. But now I feel I can use Squarespace without too many glitches.
Nice! Good luck with your new enterprise.
Thank you so much! I love being able to use my photography in another format to share.
Many congrats on making that happen!
Good luck in the stores too – I’m picturing David’s store in Schitt’s Creek 🙂
Btw, the links in the footer of your your new site all lead to SquareSpace.
Cheers!
James
Thanks for letting me know. I’m sure SquareSpace put those links in the footers on purpose! I’ve updated the footers thanks to you. 😊
Wonderful!!! So excited for you! ❤️😉❤️
Thank you! I took my time with this project, so cards were ordered just how I like them and website is up and running. 🥰
So good! You should be super duper proud! And good timing for gift giving season! ❤️😘❤️
Thanks! It was a big accomplishment for me! 💕
Yay! ❤️😉❤️
Thanks for your encouragement! 💕
My pleasure! ❤️😘❤️
😊
That’s amazing, well done!
Thanks! Lots of moving parts involved, decisions and revisions on both the cards and the website.
Of course, there’s always some changes and edits needed at the start but you got it going and that’s a big deal!
Wow, beautiful,
Thank you!
Congratulations! That is awesome. I wish you all the best with it! Red will become famous. 🙂
Thanks! So fun to finally get it off the ground! Red is such a good bird and should be famous!
Yes, he should!😊
👍🏼
Oh this is so cool! What a cool site. And love your images. Red in all his grandeur! Have you let your photography classmates know that you’ve started the website. Such a cool thing to see. So happy for you Elizabeth. I’ll put in an order this weekend. I have to decide which one I want!!!
Thank you so much for all your kind words and enthusiasm. I loved looking through my photos for cards and having them printed. The website was more of a challenge, but not as much as me physically walking into shops in town and asking if they want to carry my cards! Thanks for saying you’ll order, but you know you don’t have to!
awesome!!
