I was thrilled to see this cactus in bloom. But then a rabbit stopped by and ate the bud on top. It didn’t get a chance to bloom.

Red was mixing it up with the quail families.

One of the many families of quail who stopped by over the weekend. We have families with tiny babies up to teenagers now. The smallest family has two babies, another has three, then we have those with six, seven up to 10 babies.

A lone baby quail. One little guy flew up to the windowsill and hung out by me.

I took this with my iphone sitting at my little table. Eventually he flew down to catch up with his siblings and mom and dad.

I’m not sure, but I think this is a Desert Spiny Lizard after looking at photos of Arizona lizards.

A House Finch observes the scene in the backyard. It was a busy weekend for birds. I did get a photo using my iphone of a Harris’s Hawk eating it’s kill on top of a saguaro. But I thought better of sharing it. It’s kind of gross looking.

Red says “What are you guys looking at?”
I have a week of doctors appointments and driving my husband to PT. I even have one appointment for myself.
What’s on your agenda for this week?

pictures are gorgeous as always. my husband is in Florida visiting his mom. l am viewing a potential apartment for my daughter today. seeing Paul Rudd and Nick jonas in conversation about their new movie. lots of writing and Italy planning and writing workshop. going to try to sneak in a trip to gardens cause flowers so pretty now
Oh, the big life moment has come…daughter is leaving the nest for real ๐
I’m very excited for her so of course when we were out yesterday I bought her clothes…

How fun!

How exciting for your daughter! I’m glad you enjoy my photos. Good for you to keep up with your writing and a writing workshop.

I hope your driving anxiety is getting a little better EA. You’re definitely getting lots of practice if nothing else. We get rain and storms all week so not much outside. I feel like I need to pull out the craft box again and start a new project.
I am getting lots of practice. I have good days driving and ones with anxiety. But the practice can’t hurt.
Wonderful. I love it when birds drop by the window to see what’s going on.
I usually am not quick enough to get a photo, because my movement scares them away.
Iโm constantly battling woodchucks who eat my flowers, but cactus bloom so rarely. ๐ฐ
Bad bunny.
Bad.
I couldn’t believe it. So nervy of that bad bunny!
I would love to see a photo!
It’s not bothered by the cactus spines?
J
I wasn’t quick enough to get a photo unfortunately. The bunny ate the flower on top. It wasn’t that far off the ground he stretch up and ate it. He must of looked carerully at his paw placement.
What lovely photos! We’ve had a lot of baby quail lately, too.
This seems to be a record year for baby quail. Iโm so glad you liked my photos!
LOL – you donโt need to go anywhere, you have plenty of wildlife in the backyard for photos.
So true. We live across the street from a preserve with 130 miles of hiking trails. Next to that is a national forest. The wildlife thrives here.
Wow!! Very beautiful photos, Elizabeth! The quail and Red are so adorable, I’m at my sister’s home in Michigan for a few days and showed her your photography! โค๏ธ
Thanks! I’m so glad you are enjoying my photos. Have fun with your sister.
Oh, the lizard is a new face! I can’t believe a rabbit ate the bloom. Good taste, I suppose! Delightful pictures, Elizabeth! I hope you have a wonderful week!
I love seeing a new face in my little world. Itโs exciting. You have a great week with your family, too!
I’m so glad you enjoy the photos. The lizard was a surprise!
Awwwwww, the little quails are adorable! Red looks likes he pressing in the wind, love that blown crest!
Thank you! I’m glad you liked the photos. I’m enjoying the baby quail before they grow up. It happens so quickly. This is my second year of Red showing up daily.
I love those quails, and the one that flew up to the window is definitely not an introvert! Redโwell, what can I say? Just awesome!
Thanks so much! Our windows have a reflective coating, so I wondered if the baby quail thought he found his twin? Or, may he could see me and wanted to investigate. I enjoyed Red’s poses as always!
Oh, that makes sense. Maybe he saw a reflection and was investigating.
It was a surprise to see him sitting there, flush against the window.
Well, it gave you the perfect opportunity for a great photo.

Lovely photos! I think those small lizards are cute!
I hope the driving goes Ok for you this week. That you can have peace about it. I am going out to lunch with a friend tomorrow. And preparing for us to go to TN over Memorial day weekend to see my in-laws.
I’m glad you liked my photos. I am driving every day, so that is probably good for me. Mostly it’s smooth going. But there are times I get tense. I pray for God to lift my anxiety from my shoulders and that seems to help! Have fun with your family in Tennessee.
Yes, keep them coming. ๐
Yay for answered prayers. ๐.
Thanks!
Tomorrow I have my Bird of the Week challenge. I went through my Harris’s Hawks photos and I’m using a few of those from the past year. Two stopped by yesterday and flew away as soon as I grabbed my camera!
Grear choice! How dare they fly away! LOL!
I know! I see them so rarely, it was very rude.
