This is not our usual weather for sunny Arizona. How does 49 degrees feel like 33 degrees? I went outside today to take photos. It does feel cold. I wore my heaviest coat.
I struggled to come up with something to post, which is not like me. I realize it’s because after coming home from our Christmas Hawaiian trip, both my husband and I got sick. I’ve been down for several days. Not much has been happening in my life.
It was hubby’s birthday this week and we cancelled our birthday dinner plans with our friends from Palm Springs who moved one mile from us in Arizona. They called several times to see how we were feeling. Finally, the scoop was that they are taking their kids on a cruise soon and they don’t want to get sick. We decided to postpone the birthday dinner celebration. If we are contagious or aren’t contagious and they get sick in the next few days, what is the upside?
We did take out Chinese at the only decent Chinese restaurant around us and spared strangers from our coughing fits!
Here are some photos I took of our gray day:

The view out my office window. It’s difficult to see through the rain drops.

Our crocodile. It looks like he enjoys the weather.

Looking out the front door.

Our backyard aliens or geckos left by the previous home owners. I know they are geckos, but they look more like aliens to me.

The first year we were here, we had snow! This coyote was playing in the snow and ended up on our wall!

It is snowing in Sedona which is less than three hours away, but at a higher elevation.
What is your weather like today? Is it normal for this time of year?

Seeing the snowfall there made me feel cold. You have the courage to survive in such weather.
But here in India, it’s still winter. It’s so cold that I don’t feel like leaving the house.
👍🏼
Have a great day dear Wickham.
You too!
We visited Sedona in January a few years back and I must say, a dusting of snow in a desert landscape is truly beautiful.
❤️
I thought we’d get snow yesterday. It felt so cold and we had rain. I was looking forward to a dusting of snow.
We’ve been told that a few storms have been blowing up our way from the south and our southeast is getting a lot of snow right now, as are the mountains. In short, thanks for your rain storm because we really need the moisture up here! So sorry that you and husband were sick. Seems like that is common for many after vacations and being out among strange/new germs. We got about 3 inches of snow overnight but temps will warm so it will be gone just as quickly. Take care EA.
Thanks! I’m glad you finally got some snow and our wet weather headed your way! It does seem that we get sick after we travel. It’s such a bummer after being so excited for a trip to spend a week feeling miserable.
The weather has been crazy, hasn’t it?! I work remotely and a colleague called in the morning and then again in the afternoon and noted that I’d added a coat. He was skeptical about rains and low temps in Phoenix. 🤣
It has been wild weather this week. We’ve been much colder than our kids in the Bay Area. That’s funny about you wearing a coat and your colleague questioning Arizona weather.
Wow man, you guys are getting some nutty weather for sure! You have a pool, I’m jealous! My yard is way too small for a pool. The eyes on the geckos do look very much like an alien, funny! it’s great that you didn’t spread the coughs around, haha! I hope you guys feel much better soon, and happy birthday to your hubby! Have a dandy weekend, Elizabeth. 😊
Thank you. Yesterday was a wild weather day. Today is blue skies with some clouds. Yes, the geckos do look like aliens. I’m glad we stayed home all week. Hopefully we’ll be better soon.
I hope so. 🤙🏻😊
😊
We get a lot of “feels like” here, on the hill top!
We are on a hillside. Maybe that what the “feels like” is all about.
It’s the wind chill factor 🙁
That must be it!
It’s colder here than most years. The sun hardly is putting in an appearance and to top it, our inverter has developed a fault, so I’m tucked in my quilt.
It’s colder here than most years, too. I have been tucked into a quilt as well.
Climate change!!!!
😳
You have our weather! It’s 55 and rainy here!
It’s so much colder than normal here!
We are seasonally high right now. I think it’s going to be 50 today with rain.
To me that is too cold!
It is 84, and sunny in Florida. We worked in the garden weeding this morning. It is officially hot but beautiful!
Cold front on Wednesday thru Friday and barely hit 60!
That’s sounds so much better than our weather!
Yes, I keep having to water the mints in the sun! I water often with the warm weather and we keep weeding. Good exercise for us!
I like gardening. We are getting lots of weeds because of all our rain.
It has been in the 80’s all week here in Houston. My son was in Scottsdale this week. He had a blast! Love the gecko!
Wow, that’s warm! I like the geckos too. I’m glad the former owners left them for us.
That is strange weather.
Now it’s clear skies and in the low 30s. Very unusual.
It’s been rather cool in Southern California as well!
We moved to Arizona from Palm Springs. My dad is there plus many friends in PS and Santa Barbara. Everyone is complaining of cold weather!
Love the coyote photo!
Its 50 degrees here which is unusual as well and rainy. Better than being cold and icy!
Sorry about having to postpone your hubby’s bday celebration. Glad you still got Chinese.
I’ve been living off the Chinese food the past few days. Glad we did that because I’m not up to cooking. Rain and 50 reminds me of where I grew up north of Seattle.
It’s been unusually warm and dry here. We got five inches of snow last night, but north of us, including Durango, almost nothing!
I wouldn’t mind warm and dry. We had a low of 32 last night and it’s in the 30s now! Are you excited for the snow?
Most of it went south of us. I wish the ski area had more! We were down to 8 degrees this morning.
Yikes! That is cold!
Dang that’s cold for Arizona. Happy birthday to your husband. Glad you got Chinese takeout to enjoy together. Hope you are both 100% soon!
Thank you, Wynne. I’m working on resting. It seems like I rest a day, overdo and feel awful again.
It’s a heatwave here….
Really? I thought you’d be buried in snow.
Not yet….
Thanks you dear Wickham..
That is pretty cold for Arizona!
So sorry you both got sick—seems like this is almost normal protocol after traveling, right? We’ve still not celebrated Christmas with my in-laws; MIL was sick for Christmas and then things got extra busy.
Hopefully you’re both on the mend by now.
We’re in N. Georgia currently and it’s cold–so yes, typical for this time of year.
Thanks! We’re finally feeling better. It took awhile to get over it. Hope you get to see your inlaws soon.
