Odds, Ends and Quail

What would you do with a cleared calendar?

Is there a project you’d like to start on or continue?

  1. I’m sorry the class won’t continue EA. It’s hard (for me at least) not to speculate as to all the reasons why it might not be happening but I’m sure one has to involve cost cutting. I’m trying to find a good fit for some volunteering. I have a few options 🙂 There are lots of interesting online courses as well and it’s been a long time since I’ve participated in those. I’ve planned some projects too, thinking that we’d be snowed in long before January but that hasn’t happened so I’ve still be outside a lot while I can.

    • Thanks. I will miss photography class. It sounds like you have lots of good options to explore in your new home. I got involved right away after we moved. It did help me get adjusted and meet people. Now I think I’ll enjoy the quiet time and work on my projects before signing up for anything new.

  2. I’m sorry to hear about the cancelled class. What a disappointment! Well this gives you more time for other things…you’ll find your way and soon you’ll be busy busy busy! But…take time for yourself! xo PS Love the photos as always!

    • Thank you! Yes, it was a blow to get the email about photography class. It seems heartless to let a 26-year employee go like that. I’m going to enjoy not being so busy for a bit.

  3. I think your photos are really good, Elizabeth! They are such cute birds, so fancy with the feather on the head. ❤️ I’m sorry that your class won’t be continuing, and the way that the professor was let go is nothing less that incredibly cheesy. I’ve seen this before and find it to be very cowardly. 26 years is a huge investment of one’s life.

  4. How frustrating about the Red pictures. So relatable though!

How fun to have a light calendar – so much freedom to choose what you’ll do next. I’m sorry about the professor though – hope he finds his way to the next wonderful thing too!

    Happy New Year, Elizabeth!

    • Happy New Year, Wynne. The professor had mentioned that he’s working on a new project, so I think he’ll be okay. It’s just a rotten way to be treated. I’m excited to not be so booked with “to dos” this year and start the new year quietly.

  5. I like Wynne’s take that the clear calendar is a fresh opportunity to reassess and choose how to spend your days with intention. Cheers to a wonderful new year!

  6. Sorry, I did smile at the missing card. I once went away for a weekend without the camera battery and never again. Those Quail are very picturesque. I would be very upset if I lost my job via email

  7. Love the quail pics…they are so darn majestic, aren’t they? Cheers to a lighter calendar…I know you’ll use the time well – knowing the talented person you are! xo! 💝

  8. Beautiful photos! Wow. I’m sorry your class was canceled and your professor was let go. Seems very cold to tell him in an email. But I do like the calmness of January. I like to hunker down and just rest. It’s so dark and cold, it almost invites us into a little contemplation, allows me to cultivate my future projects. Hugs, C

    • Thanks! Yes, that was a harsh way to let the professor go. I am getting over a cold. So I am hunkered down, too! I am mulling over which projects I want to continue, or to start something new.

  9. The quail photos are excellent! Too bad about your class cancellation and especially a bummer for how the instructor was treated. Enjoy the freedom to reconfigure how you’ll be using your time this year.

    • Thank you! The quail are good posers for me. Unlike Red who has been very flighty. I hate to see the professor treated so poorly. I think a lot of it is due to online and zoom classes. The administrators don’t have a connection to the students or professors.

  10. Your skill with camera has improved a lot Elizabeth. Sorry about the discontinuation of the photography class. But you have time now to dedicate to writing. Best of luck dear friend

  11. I love your quail photos. When my calendar clears, I usually do more reading, or, depending on the circumstances and how I feel, I might do some chores around the house. There is always a list of those ready to be tackled.
