My first day back home and I was thrilled to have visits by Red and Mrs. They haven’t been fed in the week that we were away, so I was afraid they left. My husband reminded me that they live in the wild. All of our birds have to find their own food — unless I’m home.
Mrs. the cutie pie was first to arrive after I put out the seed block. The seed blocks usually last four days. This one was gone within 24 hours. The birds must have been hungry. The pouring rain didn’t stop them from feasting.

There were birds the entire day eating at the food block. Yes, I guess they did miss me — and the birdseed.
Oh, I’m sure it was all you. The food block was a nice add-on, but they all popped in to see you Elizabeth!!!! Don’t cut yourself short. Ha, ha.
Ha! I’m just happy they are still here. I have no idea if they migrate in the Winter or not. I’ll find out.
There’s always that bit of guilt when you’re away and you think about the wildlife not getting their “extra” food 😉 We are waiting anxiously for the smallest chance of some snow along the metro corridor. The high country is finally getting snow- the peaks look amazing when we walk in the morning- but very low chance of any snow down here still for some time. They are saying much colder next week but if there’s no storms rolling in…no snow sadly.
I hope you get your snow. At least you have snow in the mountains. We have a full week of rain which is really unusual. I’m glad I’m home to feed the birds!

Aw! I had a Robin having a bath in the birdbath a few minutes ago. Some smaller birds were hanging out with him. ❤️
That amazing! The only birds who use our birdbath are the House Sparrows.
No Robins? I think there’s a nest nearby but the couple are still in the area.
I haven’t seen a single Robin here. We had tons of them in Washington state where I grew up.
Bummer. They are very common in Michigan too.
My husband says the same thing when I worry about running out of seed and suet. “They survived without you just fine.” 😉

It’s hard to remember that these birds survived without us! There was a whole group of quail under the bench, but by the time I got my camera out and focused there was the one left.

Great to see them all 👍 we’ve been away for a couple of days and the feeders were bare when came back this afternoon, the birds dropped on them instantly, it’s been snowing now and tonight there’s a real blow out there, I’ll need to make sure we’re all stocked up 👍
I enjoy the backyard birds so much. I’m so happy to be back home feeding them. I can imagine how the birds enjoyed your full feeders. I have a couple dozen quail devouring the birdseed. I’m glad we don’t have snow. We had two snow days the first year we moved here. I thought it was going to be every year, but never since then. We do have six straight days of rain which is unusual.
