The best hour of my day — 6 to 7 a.m. I’m out by the pool with coffee, journaling, listening to birds. The temperature is still cool in the 70s. Yesterday, I watched a coyote hustle by the fence, trying not to attract attention during my quiet hour.
Then the day moved away from quiet time to my first Physical Therapy session. I thought they were just going to talk to me and figure out a plan. They took off my boot and ace bandages. Then they measured my flexibility in both ankles. They worked on my right ankle with stretches, massage and manipulation. Then I had to do a series of exercises including tracing the alphabet with my right foot. They had me use bands and had me work through more exercises they want me to do there and at home.
When PT called a few days ago to schedule appointments, I was taken aback. I thought surely this was way too soon. I was not ready for this. I’m perfectly content cocooning in my casita. I’m not ready to leave the nest!
But my husband drove me there and I’ve got a month of appointments scheduled — to start. The therapist said within a few weeks, I’ll be out of my boot and walking without it.
The best thing about PT? There’s a taco shop next door called Oscar’s Tacos. We brought take out home after my appointment. It was a small shop where the employees and customers were all Latino except for us. That was a good sign. I have been on a quest to find decent Mexican food since we moved to Arizona. Now, after each appointment, I can take food home! And yes, it was good!
What is the best time of your day?

Going through PT the reward is genuine Tacos 😋
It sure works for me! What an incentive!
I don’t think that I can pinpoint a specific hour but I am very much a morning person. Once I eat dinner the world just folds up and I want to only sit with a book or turn on the TV. My productive times are definitely earlier! Good to hear that PT has you focused on getting back to normal. I think it’s natural to believe that you have to be extremely careful and slow but that’s not the case anymore after surgery. Bonus tacos!
I am exactly the same way as you. It used to be after dinner I was done. But I’m lacking energy now, so I’m on the sofa at 2 pm with a book. I had Al Pastor street tacos. My favorite!
This is good Elizabeth. PT asap helps more. And combined with good tacos- what’s not to like
I have heard early PT gets things moving. Tacos are my reward!
A win- win situation.
🥰
Oh Elizabeth, I adore that time as well – when all is quiet and peaceful before the hubbub of the day begins! Your yard is beautiful – what an oasis of peace and to see a coyote? Wow…I hope the PT helps as you heal – PS I adore a good 70 degree morning….and authentic mexican food too!
Thanks! It is the best part of the day! Everything is fresh including me. My yard gives me a pretty view and besides neighboring homes, there’s lots of nature.
I adore sitting out there in nature! You have a lovely view of the world right there in your yard!
Thanks! I do appreciate it.
Nothing like some good pico de gallo to go with PT! Yay!
I’m so thrilled! I’m going to order something different after each appointment. 😊
Good tacos are a perfect reward for pt.
Hope your rehab goes smoothly and without much discomfort.
Thanks. I’ll admit I was more than sore yesterday. Elevating, icing and tacos helped!
Nothing like good authentic food to reward yourself after a long PT session. You’re going to be back, good as new, in no time! 🤣🤣😎😎
I hope so! And yes, good authentic food is a game changer for all my PT appointments. 😄
I love my morning ritual too. I’m surprised that you were having trouble finding authentic Mexican food in your area, but I’m happy that you found something. What a nice way to reward yourself after PT.
We are used to certain flavors or styles of Mexican food from Southern California. We haven’t found anything that compares in Arizona. I think it’s all what you’re used to.
We found out today after PT ordering breakfast burritos (me and hubby) that the family who owns this taco shop is from So. Cal. They still have a restaurant in LA. That makes sense why we are like “finally!”
LOL – great to have tacos next to PT.
It sure works for me!
I like the same early morning hour as you. No pool here, but many trees to gaze upon. I’m glad your PT has started and that your reward is good Mexican food. Ever onward!
The mornings are so nice. I get hubby to fill the bird feeder and I get an early morning show. PT was harder than I thought, but tacos made it work for me!
I love 4pm. At this point I’ve usually written, done chores and errands and done something fun. If all goes well I drink tea and read.
I totally understand that. You’ve finished everything you need to have done for the day and have a bit of time to relax and read.
Right before I start dinner….😉
A tiny slice of time for you!
😉
It does seem really soon to start PT, but I suppose you don’t want to waste time just relaxing and enjoying yourself. (She says while laughing sarcastically!)
We went to an authentic Mexican restaurant yesterday and it was sooooo good. I love that you found a silver lining to your PT sessions!
I was sore after PT and go back tomorrow morning for more! I’m thinking a breakfast burrito will help.
