I spotted these blooms in the backyard which is amazing for July. They only lasted a day or two.
A few days before our trip to New York, our AC went out in the master bedroom. Now that it’s more than 100 degrees outside, that was not a good thing. We slept in the casita for a few nights until a repairman fixed the AC. One night, I got up to use the bathroom and smacked my toes on the bed post.
It was loud! It really hurt! I woke my husband up obviously.
So, off to New York City and Connecticut, where I could barely walk. Once home from the trip, I realized I still couldn’t make my morning walks. I’m still in pain. It’s frustrating as I sit looking out the window.
I’m not one who gets bored easily. I’m usually content reading or writing. But the lack of exercise isn’t helping. I have jumped in the pool to kick. It’s better than nothing. Plus, I’m lifting weights.
My biggest thrill right now is birdwatching.
Here’s a video of my baby quail:
How do you entertain yourself, if you’re injured? Any suggestions?

My periods of immobility were when I had different joint surgeries. I watched tv but my favorite was blogging. I hope your toes mend quickly. Hugs
Thank you! I hope I heal quickly too.
👍🏼🙏🏼🤞🏼
I had no idea you wandered around CT and NY in so much pain. You were a trooper to keep up! I don’t deal well with being immobile for long and have a tendency to push myself when I know better but fortunately significant injury is rare for me. Take care EA and enjoy your birds 🙂
Yes, it was a painful trip but I was distracted by new sights and company. I think it’s worse being at home.
Oh I’m so sorry- my husband recently did something similar, and it has amazed us how something as small as a toe or two can cause such disruption. I like to craft when I’m sidelined, but it doesn’t burn much energy. Maybe you need a boxing bag- great upper body workout and you can put your frustration to work for you! Haha- I jest (sort of, unless you happen to have access to one?), but I hope you get better soon! You’re a week or so ahead of my hubby, if my assumed timeline is correct. As I pray for him, I’ll also pray for you!
Thank you for your prayers! I’ll have to think about the boxing bag. We could add it to our assorted weights and stationary bike! I’m sorry your husband is going through this too. It’s such a tiny thing, but so painful.
Oh my goodness. It’s so easy to catch toes on furniture, isn’t it? I like your idea of noodling around in the pool…kicking…or just kicking back. 🥰 Take care!
Thank you! I feel like it’s such a tiny thing, but has caused me so much discomfort and pain. Ugh.
Gosh, yes – and like Deb – I can’t believe you managed as well as you did on your trip to CT and NY. Way to go, Elizabeth. You’re more of a trooper than I would’ve been. 😘
Fortunately on our last night’s stay in NYC, I met LA for appetizers across the street from our hostess’s “guest apartment.” I tried walking the first day and realized it wasn’t an option. My husband is going on the morning walks without me.
I sure hope you feel…and heal…much better soon! 🥰🥰🥰
I think the kicking in the pool is helping. At least I get some movement in.
🥰🥰🥰
💕
Oh, ouch! I’m so sorry, Elizabeth! Love that you are kicking in the pool and lifting weights. Very creative! Heal quickly!
Thank you. I remember your wrote a few weeks ago about the importance of our feet and base to exercise.
They are so essential…such a bummer when they hurt!
I hate limping around in pain. I’m not good at this!
Hope you feel better soon!
Thank you! Me too!
Oh what a thing to happen. So sorry. Given your situation I’d play lots of games on my iPad and mutter a lot. It would pass the time.
I’ll have to get the on-line Scrabble game going on with my daughter. Good ideas.
I’ve done that in the middle of the night. It sure hurts. I think it would be broken if it hurt while you were kicking in the water… right?
It does hurt when I kick in the water, but to a lesser extent than having weight on it.
Ok, well, feel better. These things always take time to heal.
Thank you. I need to have patience.
Toes are easy to break. So are fingers. Walking around in pain is horrible. I pulled my hamstring in Los Angeles once and I remember looking at the set of stairs to get to my daughter’s apartment and sobbing.
Yes, my toes hurt! That sounds awful to have a pulled hamstring facing stairs!
Ouch! Too bad you were in such pain on your trip. Sounds like the pool therapy is a good thing. Hope you are walking soon.
Thank you. Me too!
Oh no, I’m so sorry Elizabeth! I’ve done that so many times and it HURTS! Sending you some healing prayers. Hugs, C
Thank you! It seems to be taking a long time to recover.
