I loved Taliesin West. We all did. Our visit was Friday with our son and his fiancée.
It wasn’t what I expected. It was so much more. I felt like I was in the presence of genius — which I was. I loved the use of space, materials, and the different feel from one building or room to another.

We did an hour-long self-guided tour with an app called Smartify with our own phones and earbuds. I appreciated the detail of the information. I could picture the people living and working there.
The tour took us from outside to inside Frank LLoyd Wright’s office, around the property to various pools and patios to inside a gathering room, dining room, cabaret where they watched movies, inside the drafting room and inside a Kiva. The Kiva is a round dark room, that feels like it’s underground with phenomenal lighting. They watched movies there and used it for storage when they returned to Wisconsin for the summer.

A couple weeks ago I went to the First Americans Museum in Oklahoma City and was very disappointed I had to leave before seeing it all. I would love to go back, but OKC is not likely to be on my itinerary again.
Sorry! It’s disappointing to have travel spots be less than expectation.
Oh, the museum was wonderful! I wanted to stay much longer but the conference organizers insisted we return to our hotel by 3 (for no good reason). I just don’t have any reason to go back to Oklahoma. I will say that Dodge City, Kansas, was a big letdown. I thought it would be like Tombstone. But they have torn it all down and now just have a museum. It’s a nice museum, but not as good as having a real Old West town.
My SIL lives in Kansas City, MO, but otherwise I have no reason to visit that part of the US.
I’ve never been there and don’t have plans to visit.
Bryce and Zion amazed me. I was really impressed by the St. Louis arch. I loved San Diego though people said I wouldn’t. I’ve been happily surprised more often than not
