This is a juvenile Harris’s Hawk who stopped by last week. The spotted chest and leggings are why I know it’s a juvie. Adults are solid brown in those places.
On the smaller side of birds are these two House Sparrows.
A Mourning Dove enjoyed the bird bath too and got fluffed up.
A quail couple feasted on the birdseed block.
A Roadrunner took over a bench in the backyard.

The Harris’ Hawk is a real beauty! Raptors are wonderful birds. I counted 42 Mourning Dove on my block fence three days ago, the last two nights there were none. Hmm??
I always enjoy seeing a hawk close up, although I hope he didn’t get any of the small birds. Our house sparrows are still out in full force at the feeders. Our big camera feeder finally bit the dust a few months ago thanks to one too many racoons piling on it. The bigger birds that would crowd out the sparrows can’t sit on the replacement small feeder so the sparrows can get all they want.
Very nice photos. I like the shots of the hawk best, of course. That hawk probably stopped by for breakfast. We have one that comes to our yard now and then, to enjoy the fine cuisine of dove on the wing and quail a la fresco.
