Red and Mrs. have reappeared in my yard after taking off for eight days after our vacation to Northern California. I was so distressed, but now relieved that they’ve returned.
Here are a few of my favorite photos that I took this week:

Mrs. at the birdseed block with doves and a sparrow.

A Roadrunner has been hanging out in our backyard. He prefers to hide in a pot or hang out in a tree.

He spends an inordinate amount of time grooming himself and gets all fluffy in the process.

Our state bird, the Cactus Wren took over the birdseed block.

A Gila Woodpecker hangs out upside down foraging for insects. Look at the tongue!

Squirrel!

Awesome bird photography. You should enter a competition
Thank you for the generous support!
You’re very welcome and my thoughts are based on facts. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks! 😊

These are so good Elizabeth. The Roadrunner is my favourite
Thanks! The Roadrunner was hanging out for an hour, so I had plenty of time to take photos.
Aww… the squirrel all stretched out munching his breakfast 🙂
I read that squirrels stretch out and lay on their stomachs to cool down.
So cute! Great photos! ❤️😊
Thanks! 😊
A road runner!
That’s an exotic bird to this Yankee.
❤️
We had Roadrunners in Palm Springs, but this summer is the first I’ve seen them in Arizona.
The road runner is fast and doesn’t always say anything but moves like a shining light of stealth.
So true!
Your squirrel looks so relaxed. Like he’s lounging by the pool. No worries, no stresses. Just chilling.
That’s exactly what the squirrel is doing. Chilling. That’s how they cool down.
As others have mention, the squirrel is a real cutie, and clearly feels safe and happy on your turf.
Thanks! But I don’t like the squirrels to get too comfortable. They destroyed a chaise lounge using the stuffing for their home.
Oh no!!! 😂😂
They are crafty!
The roadrunner is cute – even if a little high maintenance!
I’ve never seen a bird spend so much time grooming.
Fabulous photos!! You can start a nature / bird book.
Thanks! My immediate plans are making greeting cards from the bird photos.
Great capture of that woodpecker tongue. And nice photos, overall. I’m glad Red returned.
Thanks! I’m going to have a neighbor make sure Red has plenty of birdseed while we are at the beach.
Yay on Red Returning!! 😊 Love rhe road runner pics the best.
It was such a relief to see Red and Mrs.! I’m glad you enjoyed the roadrunner.
