We have had a true Monsoon week with thunder and lightning storms every few nights and an abundance of rain. Thanks to the rain, we have cactus blooming again in beautiful pinkish red.
Here are a few photos of the buds and blossoms:

Then of course there’s my bird buddy Red:

Red with a mouthful of millet.

Red found a new perch, a little table next to a covered chaise lounge.

Red was flitting and flying around our backyard.

Have a wonderful weekend!
What are your plans for the weekend?
Which photo do you like best?

Very beautiful photo, Elizabeth!! 😍🥰
Thank you!
You know I love Red but my fav is the 3rd cacti pic. Great visual with the varied colors and textures. Maybe another idea for the cards?
We have planned a girls overnight in a small front range mtn town. It will probably be a good 20 degrees cooler there as our heat is still brutal.
Thanks! I think you’re correct. My cacti blooms give me more material for cards. Your weekend escape sounds ideal!
Doesn’t rain do wonders. Wonderful cacti flowers
Rain does do wonders! I’m grateful we got several nights of it. Thanks!
The photos of the flowers are nice for cards, also. I was outside this morning, weeding before the heat arrives. The pinkish red is beautiful! Plans for the weekend-I have had a busy few days meeting up with friends, hair cut, clothes shopping, paring down wardrobe. I think I will stay in and relax a little with Mike and the pugs! Enjoy your weekend.
Thanks! I do think the flowers would make nice greeting cards too. I’ll be exploring Sonoma today. It’s where my daughter-in-law grew up and I’ve never been there. I started the day walking from our hotel to an amazing bakery for a Manchego cheese and ham croissant. After your busy days, staying in with your husband and pugs sound perfect.
Ooh, enjoy! It is fun to walk in new places!
Yes, I’m excited. They’ve planned out an entire day for us.
I always feel like cactus blooms are magical. Maybe because they don’t happen very often. Lovely pics.
I can’t get used to how beautiful the cactus blooms are. You’re right. I think it’s because they rarely happen.
Very nice. We were supposed to have a good monsoon week – all we got was a couple hrs one night but 1″ of rain
We had a couple evening storms. It was wonderful!
Lovely photos!
Thanks!
Beautiful photos, Elizabeth. Love the blooms!
Thank you!
Love this collection of red things! Beautiful!
Thank you! 😊
A collection of Red things and Red finds a way to still steal the show. Damn that guy has an ego. Ha, ha. Great shots Elizabeth.
Red is very practiced at that! I’m glad you enjoyed the photos.
These flowers are so beautiful, as are the pics of Red.
I’m a plant nut, so I like the cactus photo with the magenta blossoms and round barrel behind it.
Mostly taking it easy over the weekend. Dinner with a friend tomorrow night.
I’m glad you enjoyed that one. The blooms were so gorgeous but gone in a day. Hope you had a great weekend.
So glad you had a wonderful cleansing and nourishing monsoon week! Love all the photos! Can’t pick!❤️
We definitely needed the rain and the side effect of blossoms was wonderful!
So glad!
Stunning photos, Elizabeth! Love the colors and Red!
Nice photos, and you know, Red is my favorite.
He’s my favorite too!
Wow! Gorgeous flowers and I always love Red and his vivid coat!
I’m missing Red today. We got home last night from five days with our kids in Northern California. No Red today. I’ve refilled the bird feeder and put out a birdseed block and called for him. I hope he’s not that touchy.
Aww! He will hopefully be back tomorrow !
I’ve been calling him, putting out food. This happened last time we took a vacation. He stayed away for a few days after we returned…
Who would know that birds can show an attitude. LOL!
Red is not a happy camper! I may have to hire a Red sitter for our beach vacation.
I was just going to say that!! He really likes you and depends on you. 🥰
I’ll be reporting when he shows up!
Good! 😊
🤞
I remember the monsoons in Arizona—crazy!!
Love the pops of red, thanks to the rain and of course, Red himself.
Thanks! It’s been so good to get some rain.
