What’s happening this week in your life?

  1. Looks like a beautiful place for a wedding EA, but sorry you had that long walk. My youngest daughter and I took a graduation trip (we both earned our BA at the same time) to SF & Sausalito. We went up into Muir Woods Nat’l Monument which has redwoods and reminds me very much of your photos.

This is my last full week here in WA. My packing Pod comes on Friday. I have cleaning to start, mostly in the kitchen since it’s almost totally empty at this point. Also boxes to organize so they fit in the pod well when we load.

    • It was a beautiful place! I felt good with all the walking until I got home. Then it hit me. I did nothing but nap and rest yesterday.

Your last week in Washington! Is it bittersweet? I felt that way leaving Palm Springs. You were very organized with getting started packing and being organized early.

      • It is emotional. This just ended wkend is always one that hold lots of WA memories. Once these boxes are packed and the pod leaves next Monday the apartment will be virtually empty for a few days until I leave. It’s really going to be weird

      • I totally understand. We were in our home for 28 years and raised our kids there. I was very emotional. Then we moved to an area where we knew one person. You’ll be with family which will be so much better.

    • Yes, it felt so good to be home. I spent most of the day recovering in bed! I refused to get a wheelchair at the airports and those walks were really long! On the way back at the Phoenix airport, one of those carts that haul people who need help stopped and insisted I got on. I was wearing my ankle brace and limping, so I guess it was obvious I needed a ride! I’m so glad I did, we were so far away from baggage claim. He drove so fast beeping his horn at people to get out of the way. It was a thrill ride too, with me hanging on for dear life! 😂

    • Thank you so much. I didn’t realize how much my surgery took out of me. I’m glad we left a day early and didn’t attend the post wedding activities of a day-long picnic and games in a park.

    • Isn’t that some promotion of their hotel rooms? I talked to my daughter about it and she thinks they used AI to write it. It could be. The room was huge with a fireplace and a shower and bathtub in two rooms off the bathroom. We were pleasantly surprised. It was an older building that had been refurbished and it had details that were a bit off. Like when you turned on the faucet, the water hit the counter — not the sink! But it was way better than we anticipated. I can’t complain. But I’m happy to be home.

    • We had so much fun supporting our neighbors who moved here by us from Palm Springs. Our kids all went to school together from K through high school. It was nice to catch up with old school parents and kids, too. Yes, I’m so happy to be home!

    • I’m so glad so close to the event we found somewhere close to stay. It wasn’t at all as bad as we thought. Plus the location was perfect. With my bad ankle, I got in some nice walks to see shops and eat out without too much trouble or pain.

  2. I can’t believe they wouldn’t let your husband drop you off!! As to my week, last night we attended a wine pairing tasting menu with acquaintances of my husband. Tonight and tomorrow theater on tap. This Saturday is my goddaughters bridal shower.

    • Yes, they wouldn’t let him drive over the bridge because of the people arriving. They said if we would have come early, they’d allow it. Like we would have known that! That sounds like a fun and busy week! Mine if full of PT and doctor’s appointments.

  3. I also need that hat. 🙂
I’m glad you were able to make it and that the hotel wasn’t the worst. You mentioned no homeless, which is something I’ve come to expect in just about any area in CA.
It sounds like if you were someone who was handicapped, you’d be SOL! I hope you’re rested up!!

    • Thanks! Unfortunately, my husband and I got sick after travel. He’s worse off than me, so I guess I should be glad I passed on the hat. If you’re interested, the website for the hat is Kenz Kustomz. My DIL knew the brand right away. As for homeless in CA, we had a homeless guy in Palm Springs who insisted he owned our house and would sleep in our yard! Ugh. My kids live in the Bay Area and there are so many homeless there. I was surprised Los Gatos did not have any.

      • I haven’t seen my husband this sick since he had Covid four years ago. I had him take a test, and yes it is Covid. We had a zoom call with the doctor and the good news is this variant has few complications. Tylenol, Advil, Flonase and rest are the answer.

  4. I am glad you were able to be at the wedding and find a hotel. It does look like it would be a beautiful area for a wedding.
But oh my, on all the walking. I hope you aren’t in too much pain with your foot and have been able to rest it!

  5. What beautiful photos…the Redwood Forest! Wow!!! Take some time to recharge and relax…hope you have a good week! I have a week filled with helping friends which is fine with me!
