This was the wedding venue in a Redwood Forest. Absolutely beautiful!

But I had to walk WAY over there to the far distance from the parking lot, over the bridge and far away. My husband asked if he could drop me off at the venue but was told “No.” He parked down a hill even further away but dropped me off at the top of the hill by the bridge.

We stayed in a nearby town called Los Gatos. It was 20 minutes from the wedding venue. I discovered a week ago that I messed up on our hotel reservations. I had originally booked an upscale hotel in Saratoga, five minutes from the venue. That was for a different wedding for another friend’s daughter. My daughter was a bridesmaid. Unfortunately, I had surgery the day before the wedding. So I cancelled the airfare, hotel and car rental and rebooked for this wedding. But I forgot about the hotel. Last week I called and they said they were full.
Thank goodness for the wedding website where the bride listed five hotels. The first three had no room at the inns. I booked number four. On the website the top billing for rooms was “each room has a window and a flat screen TV.” Uh oh.
Fortunately, it turned out to be okay. Not perfect, but better than expected. Also, it was on the main street which was filled with restaurants, galleries and shops. I got lots of walking in wearing my ankle brace.

I found a new hat for myself. It made me laugh, but I didn’t buy it. Just took the photo instead.
The town was very cute, lots of trees, no homeless and very clean. It was a treat to be there and I had some amazing Chinese food and clam chowder, too!
We’re back home after a two-night trip and I’m beyond exhausted! I’m looking forward to a busy week ahead with PT, doctor’s appointment and a newsletter to write. I need to get my energy recharged!
What’s happening this week in your life?

Rest up well my friend.
I slept through most of yesterday and last night. It was more tiring than I expected.
I can understand.
We felt like after travel we were getting sick. Rest helped so much.
Fatigue can make you feel like you’re getting sick.
That’s what I’m thinking. Plus flying and being at a large wedding can expose us to germs. We are taking it easy and getting lost of rest.
Take care.
👍🏼
Looks like a beautiful place for a wedding EA, but sorry you had that long walk. My youngest daughter and I took a graduation trip (we both earned our BA at the same time) to SF & Sausalito. We went up into Muir Woods Nat’l Monument which has redwoods and reminds me very much of your photos.
This is my last full week here in WA. My packing Pod comes on Friday. I have cleaning to start, mostly in the kitchen since it’s almost totally empty at this point. Also boxes to organize so they fit in the pod well when we load.
It was a beautiful place! I felt good with all the walking until I got home. Then it hit me. I did nothing but nap and rest yesterday.
Your last week in Washington! Is it bittersweet? I felt that way leaving Palm Springs. You were very organized with getting started packing and being organized early.
It is emotional. This just ended wkend is always one that hold lots of WA memories. Once these boxes are packed and the pod leaves next Monday the apartment will be virtually empty for a few days until I leave. It’s really going to be weird
I totally understand. We were in our home for 28 years and raised our kids there. I was very emotional. Then we moved to an area where we knew one person. You’ll be with family which will be so much better.
Totally agree regarding family. That makes all the difference!
Yes, you’ll be so lucky to be with them!
The venue looks amazing…but the walk? Oof. So glad you were able to go…and isn’t it good to return home? Sending hugs! 🥰
Yes, it felt so good to be home. I spent most of the day recovering in bed! I refused to get a wheelchair at the airports and those walks were really long! On the way back at the Phoenix airport, one of those carts that haul people who need help stopped and insisted I got on. I was wearing my ankle brace and limping, so I guess it was obvious I needed a ride! I’m so glad I did, we were so far away from baggage claim. He drove so fast beeping his horn at people to get out of the way. It was a thrill ride too, with me hanging on for dear life! 😂
LOL! I bet — a thrill ride zooming through the airport. Sounds like it was a good idea AND fun! xo! 🥰
I’ll have to remember to wear my ankle brace the next time I fly whether I need it or not. That was fun! 😊
🥰🥰🥰
😊
Hope you are getting better. Sending Healing Energies Your way <3 <3 <3
Thank you so much. I didn’t realize how much my surgery took out of me. I’m glad we left a day early and didn’t attend the post wedding activities of a day-long picnic and games in a park.
Those redwoods are amazing, Elizabeth! So glad you made it there and back home without any further injury — even with all the walking!
I’m so glad we made the trip. It was fun to reconnect with old friends and my kids’ classmates from kindergarten through high school.
“Each room has a window and a flat screen TV.” Wow! And an in-room shower and toilet too??? I’m glad you were able to make the trip but I’m not surprised that you are resting up afterwards.
Isn’t that some promotion of their hotel rooms? I talked to my daughter about it and she thinks they used AI to write it. It could be. The room was huge with a fireplace and a shower and bathtub in two rooms off the bathroom. We were pleasantly surprised. It was an older building that had been refurbished and it had details that were a bit off. Like when you turned on the faucet, the water hit the counter — not the sink! But it was way better than we anticipated. I can’t complain. But I’m happy to be home.
Coming home is always best!
We had so much fun supporting our neighbors who moved here by us from Palm Springs. Our kids all went to school together from K through high school. It was nice to catch up with old school parents and kids, too. Yes, I’m so happy to be home!
A great looking venue, pity about the walk. The hotel’s “features” made me laugh as much as the “uh oh”
Isn’t that funny about the hotel? Not the best features to advertise at the top of a webiste!
The hat . . . um, come on Elizabeth. Your poor husband. Ha, ha. It’s the same kind of hat my wife would love. Ha, ha.
Not my poor husband. He earned that hat. He’s lucky I didn’t buy it! 😅
Really? They wouldn’t let him drop you off? Unbelievable. Glad you found a decent, if not great, place to stay.
I’m so glad so close to the event we found somewhere close to stay. It wasn’t at all as bad as we thought. Plus the location was perfect. With my bad ankle, I got in some nice walks to see shops and eat out without too much trouble or pain.
I can’t believe they wouldn’t let your husband drop you off!! As to my week, last night we attended a wine pairing tasting menu with acquaintances of my husband. Tonight and tomorrow theater on tap. This Saturday is my goddaughters bridal shower.
Yes, they wouldn’t let him drive over the bridge because of the people arriving. They said if we would have come early, they’d allow it. Like we would have known that! That sounds like a fun and busy week! Mine if full of PT and doctor’s appointments.
Hoping you’re on the mend!! I get their points, but send a golf cart for you!!
That would have been a good idea. My husband and I both got sick after travel. It seems like every time we fly, we pick up a bug. I think I got it because my body was exhausted.
Yeah. I get it. Rest up!!
Thanks! I will!
I also need that hat. 🙂
I’m glad you were able to make it and that the hotel wasn’t the worst. You mentioned no homeless, which is something I’ve come to expect in just about any area in CA.
It sounds like if you were someone who was handicapped, you’d be SOL! I hope you’re rested up!!
Thanks! Unfortunately, my husband and I got sick after travel. He’s worse off than me, so I guess I should be glad I passed on the hat. If you’re interested, the website for the hat is Kenz Kustomz. My DIL knew the brand right away. As for homeless in CA, we had a homeless guy in Palm Springs who insisted he owned our house and would sleep in our yard! Ugh. My kids live in the Bay Area and there are so many homeless there. I was surprised Los Gatos did not have any.
Ouch! So you guys are both sick I hope you feel better soon.
Seems to be a side effect of flying for us.
I haven’t seen my husband this sick since he had Covid four years ago. I had him take a test, and yes it is Covid. We had a zoom call with the doctor and the good news is this variant has few complications. Tylenol, Advil, Flonase and rest are the answer.
What a beautiful setting, and it looks like many places we’ve visited to see the redwoods. Glad it all worked out, so now get some rest. 🙂
Thanks!
I am glad you were able to be at the wedding and find a hotel. It does look like it would be a beautiful area for a wedding.
But oh my, on all the walking. I hope you aren’t in too much pain with your foot and have been able to rest it!
I think the walking was good for me. But the tiredness turned out to be Covid. I hate flying these days!
Oh dear, on the Covid! Ugh!! Sorry!
It makes sense. My fatigue was beyond anything I’ve experienced. My husband has been so sick.
The fatigue is horrible!
Sorry about your husband. Hope he gets well soon!
He’s improving. I’m glad we had a zoom call with a doctor. He was reassuring that this is more like any flu virus without the complications we saw in the beginning.
Good to hear!!
👍🏼
What beautiful photos…the Redwood Forest! Wow!!! Take some time to recharge and relax…hope you have a good week! I have a week filled with helping friends which is fine with me!
Thanks. It turns out my exhaustion and my husband being so sick has a name. Covid. So lots of rest ahead.
Oh Elizabeth! Ugh! Nooooo! Covid? Rest and rejuvenate. I’m so sorry to hear this news….hugs
Thanks for the get well wishes. It was so unexpected.
I would imagine that covid would be unexpected!
It didn’t even occur to me. Covid has been so in the past.
I wouldn’t have thought of Covid either! Then again I heard measles have made a re-entrance so who knows?!
I haven’t heard of anyone else at the wedding we went to getting COVID. It must have been the airplane.
Yikes! Do feel better soon!!! I’m so sorry you’ve gotten this! I thought it was already over and done with long ago!
I haven’t thought about COVID since 2020 or 2021. We both got pretty sick, but the doctor said this variant doesn’t have complications like earlier ones. It’s basically a bad flu.
Thank goodness it’s only a bad flu-ish covid for you – but still to be sick? I’m so sorry to hear this news. I hope you bounce back quickly into good health! Both of you!
Thank you. We’re getting better! Just in time for vacation. But this time we’re driving and not flying!
