This beauty is a Western Tanager. I’ve seen them a few times, but I haven’t been able to get a photo until this weekend. He stopped by to drink from our bird bath.

I love the way the light goes through the Cottontail’s ears. We have an abundance of bunnies this year all around the neighborhood.

This Roadrunner loves our planter that has water in it. So do bunnies and doves. I spotted the roadrunner in the tree outside the casita, but as I reached for my camera, he flew down and ran through the fence. Then I spotted him in a tree outside the fence in the wash. But I couldn’t get a good view of him. I was thrilled to spot him back in the yard. I got a second chance at photos!

No day is complete without a few Red sightings. He sang his heart out up in our tree!
I have a busier than normal week ahead. Physical therapy, an HOA board meeting to attend for my newsletter, friends in town, a wedding in Northern California in a Redwood Forest. After getting used to a quiet, healing pace, I’m trying not to get too stressed out!
Do you have a slow or busy week ahead? What activities do you have planned?

The bunny ears photo! I adore it. Whatever I end up doing I know my week will be an inside one. The heat and humidity is around 90 for both, so it’s miserable to be outside. 🫤
I find it interesting that people like the bunny’s ears so much. The morning light shines through them. That heat and humidity combo sounds terrible. I guess I’m lucky to travel to Northern California for a break in our heat!
Lovely photos. I’m taking it easy after the surgery. Staying at home. Luckily friends are visiting to alievate my boredom.
It sounds like your surgery went well? Rest up and heal quickly.
Yes, thankfully it did. And it’s getting better with every day. Thanks, that’s the plan
That’s great news! 🙏
Thank you kindly
Love the bunnies ears and great photos of the Roadrunner. Lucky to get photos. It was a good week for new spotting
The bunnies ears catch the morning light so well. I was so excited to finally get the Western Tanager photo, too.
It’s so god to get a first especially a colourful Western Tanager
I was so excited! It didn’t hang out long, so I was lucky!
The week ahead is going to be quiet…until we go to Florida for the weejend
I would love a quiet week right now. I’m not 100% and I get tired easily. Hope you have a good weekend in Florida.
Thank you!!
😊
How wonderful!
Other than the cardinal these are all exotic to me…
❤️
I was excited to get some new photos over the weekend. I’m glad you enjoyed them.
I love when the bunnies visit! Here it’s typically just before sunrise when they don’t have to compete with other wildlife for whatever is on the ground. Pace yourself this week EA- thats a full plate for sure. I’m 90% packed and nearly ready for loading the moving Pod soon. Also working on changing accounts info, updating address, canceling services, etc.
Our bunnies are out all day long. You have such an exciting time ahead of you, but so busy!
It’s a good busy, and I’m just so ready to get there and settle in 🙂
I will return your comment of pacing yourself, too. You have a lot on your plate. I can’t wait to hear about your new life in CO.
I think that’s a key isn’t it- just taking things in manageable chunks whether it’s a move or recovery!
The wildlife at your house is just awesome! I love how you capture the moments. 🙏🏻 for your week as you recover.
Thank you for your kind comments about my photos and my week!
Wow WOW Wow Elizabeth! Beautiful photos!!
Thank you so much! Your comment made my day 😊
I’m envious of your wildlife there! I love when you share it here.
Thank you! I’m still not used to all the wildlife. We moved from downtown Palm Springs to out next to a preserve and National Forest. It’s so exciting!
Wow – the red and green in Red’s picture are so good! And the cottontail’s ears – amazing! I hope your busy week goes well!
I loved the colors in Red’s picture, too. If only you could have heard him sing! I’m glad you like the cottontail, too. So far, I had a huge workout in PT. They are definitely adding to my exercises every visit!
The heat will tire you out. Chose your activities wisely. Great photos. Inspiring at the end of a very busy day! I am spent as we continue to declutter, and I go to my regular this time of year dentist appointments, medical, scouting out dentists, whew. Too much in the heat.
You’re so right about the heat. I’m exhausted from PT and driving in the heat. It takes a few minutes for AC to kick in especially in a hot car! I’m glad you enjoyed the photos!
We are going to have a nice, quiet week. Very few have-tos on the calendar and gorgeous weather.
I love the translucent bunny ears and that beautiful yellow bird.
I wish I had a quiet week. Right now I’m elevating and icing. My PT has increased my exercises and I have to ice or I’ll be hurting later. You’re lucky to have gorgeous weather! I’m grateful for your comment on my photos.
Wonderful sightings! I’ve seen some bunnies lately, too. They’ve been absent from our neighborhood for a very long time, maybe 15 years or more!
I’ll be getting up at 4:40 tomorrow to work the bird banding station. We finish around 12:30 or 1:00 and I’m always wiped out.
I am never “not busy.”🙂
I love to read about your bird banding station. I hope you write a post about it.
I wrote one some years ago: https://myricopia.com/2019/08/27/a-bird-in-hand/
Might be time for an update!
Thanks for sharing!
Wonderful photos, and I especially love the bunny! This week is quiet, which is kind of nice. 😊
Thanks! The bunny seems to be a favorite. I see them all the time, but because they’re so common I haven’t been focused on photos. The morning light literally lights up their ears! I’ll be happy for quiet next week!
These are such lovely photos—the cotton tail bunny is huge and those ears! He can probably hear me typing this comment from way over there.
You do have a busy week. I’m the opposite, I have a quiet week and I’m enjoying every minute. The wedding sounds like it will be very special.
Thanks for the kind words about my photos! Also, the wedding is kind of bittersweet. My daughter was a bridesmaid in the same venue for a close friend she grew up with, and the mom is one of my best friends. I had surgery for my broken ankle the day before the wedding and missed it! I’m worried about travel, but I am so much better than I was two months ago. I’ll get to be at a wedding of another family friend at the Redwood forest location.
Great photos!! By September when you start your class, you’ll be READY.
Thanks! I sure hope so. But I have to keep in mind I’m there to learn. The other five students have way more experience than me.
