This is a Gilded Flicker on our birdbath. I was excited to see I had captured this photo. Maybe I’ll use this in the future for a Bird of the Week challenge that I’m posting on Wednesdays.
I’m out of energy taking care of my husband post surgery. He’s not very demanding, but I’m trying to make things as easy as possible for him. He’s going to Physical Therapy already and I’m driving, which if you read my previous posts, you know is not my favorite thing to do!
For today’s post, I’m using some of my favorite photos I took this week. And I am going to be light on words.

Papa Gambel’s quail with a little one in tow.

Another Harris’s antelope squirrel practicing heat dumping, which is how they cool down. He was close to the window looking straight at me and my camera.

A Brown-Headed Cowbird made his first visit to our backyard. The Mourning Doves seem fascinated with the newcomer.

A closeup of a baby quail.

No post is complete without Red.
What is your favorite photo?
What are your plans for the weekend?

Nice shots. I think my favorite is the baby quail.
I love watching the baby quail. They are so cute!
I like the baby quail and the cardinal! Enjoy the weekend!
You have a fun weekend too!
I would like to go to the gym again but I am not so naive too think I might twist something. Ever since the shot, no pain but I am pretty careful. I hope your husband’s pain after surgery is manageable.
The past two days were not good for my husband pain wise. But today he looks and feels much better. We have to be careful now, unfortunately. I understand you worrying about going to the gym.
Yes, according to everyone on social media, yes, it is safe to go to the gym but I don’t quite trust it. I walk with the pug and that is it. That is enough.
I used to walk two to three miles every day. I lost that with ankle and foot surgeries this year. So now I’m slowly building back. I’m consistent walking every day and am working up to get back to where I was. I’m not going to the gym either.
the bottom. the contrast of the red vs the background is wonderful. as it’s my birthday and mother’s day ..movie, lots of meals, and a surprise activity on sunday
Happy Bday!
Happy Birthday! And Happy Mother’s Day, too. I like that photo of Red too, but the Gilded Flicker is my favorite.
Have to say the squirrel this time! No plans at all.
That one is pretty cute. I have no plans either, except helping my husband.
thank you!!
Excellent photos, Elizabeth! 😊❤️ I’m glad that your hubby is doing well and that you are doing great driving. Have a wonderful weekend, get some sleep. 😊
Thanks. I’m glad you like the photos. It’s been a tiring week. I hope to get more rest.
As for my driving, it’s been a nightmare because the roads around us are under construction. I had to drive my husband to surgery Monday at 5:15 a.m. The main road there was closed for construction from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., the sign said. But it was still closed at 5:30 a.m. Everywhere I go, streets have detours, down to one lane or blocked!
All such great shots this week! I think Red and the squirrel are probably my favorites.
Thanks! It’s so exciting for me to take a bunch of photos and then download onto my laptop and see if I got anything good.
Red!! He’s so awesome! Glad your husband is healing. Take good care of yourself!!
Thank you. Red is always a thrill to see. I am working on myself, too. I’m walking every day, plus a small weight set and squats. After my own surgeries I realized how I wasn’t doing much physically. My husband is working hard on his exercises, so I realized I could too!
I love all the pictures Elizabeth. Wonderful and clear shots. Take care dear friend. Hugs
Thank you so much! 😊
Much as I love the quails, splooting squirrel for the win!
