I was sitting at my little table in the casita working on taxes when I glanced out the window and saw a javelina starting at me!

Then I spotted Red at the Bird Buddy.

He spotted me taking his photo. Woosh! Off he goes.
A Curve-Billed Thrasher is emptying the bird feeder at a rapid speed. The quail gather below to enjoy. I wonder what Mr. Thrasher is doing? Is he rifling through the bird seed looking for grubs or bugs? He does this every time and the feeder is emptied within minutes!
Is it any wonder my taxes are not done while living in the Wild Kingdom?
What are your plans for the weekend?

Our blue jays do the same thing to the feeders. It’s maddening.
I’m loving the javelina visitor though!
💕
The javelina was solo which was unusual. He wasn’t afraid of me at all. I’m sure glad for our fence! It is maddening when birds empty the feeder. I wonder what the thrasher is looking for?
Love seeing all the wild critters that visit your space EA! We’re getting snow today, but back in the high 60’s by tomorrow. I’d like to hike but I think the trails may be gross so that may have to wait a few days.
It doesn’t sound smart to hike today or if things are wet with melting snow! I’m glad you enjoy my wildlife!
I think the IRS will understand, if you explain you need an extension due to all the bird-watching you have to do. Or, they might behave like that thrasher, with your bank account.
Thanks for the laugh! 😂
Wow, it’s a good thing you’ve got the fence between you and the javelina. It’s such a lovely picture framed by the bougainvillea! I can’t believe what a mess the curve-billed thrasher is making… lol!
I’m so thankful for the fence, too. That javelina was not afraid of me at all! They can be pretty aggressive too. I’ve run into some on a walk and they intimidated me! The curve-billed thrasher annoys me because I’ll fill the bird feeder and it will be empty in a few minutes. The quail and doves like him though!
🤣🤣
😊
I love the many critters that visit your home, Elizabeth! I would have a fence too. I’m glad the seed doesn’t go to waste, the quail are so happy! I have never attempted to do my own taxes, it’s not possible. 🤭😂
We send our taxes to a CPA, but I have to gather and organize all the material. It seems to get more complex each year. I start off fine and then get distracted and start making errors. I need to take breaks.
I love all the wildlife and I’m happy we have a fence. Although I’ve seen bobcats walk through or over the fence. At least the coyotes and javelinas cannot get through it!
I think he is throwing seeds for the quails. You have such a peaceful place to sit and observe wildlife.
It is so nice! I enjoy it so much more than living downtown in Palm Springs.
It is a beautiful place where you get to observe nature, in its true habitat.
This is a wild kingdom indeed!
It is! I’m enjoying it so much more than preparing our taxes!
Great videos. Looks like you don’t have enough of his favourite seed 😂
I think the thrasher wants something else. But the feeder has Cardinal blend. That’s it!
Very interesting. Plans are to rest. We have had some good news from the labs for Mike and we purchased some wonderful outdoor chairs. Maybe we will go to the garden show this weekend nearby to get a read on good plants for the Spring as we have some work to do in the garden.
I’m happy to hear about the good news! Sounds like a nice weekend ahead.
Ugg… taxes. I think I’ll go out on our deck and see what the birds are up to.
Not much on the schedule this weekend. House projects and a dinner with friends. We’ve been having fabulous weather lately.
I finally got a lot done on taxes. I think I’ll send it to the CPA by Monday — hopefully! That’s great you’re having great weather. We did last week, but now it’s much colder. Have a great weekend!
We may be headed to Phoenix soon so I hope it stays coolish. Our friends said that it was around 90 a few days ago.
We’re up in the hills so it’s cooler than Phoenix. Today it was in the 50s, so too cold for me! Have a great trip!
Yuck taxes! The yard is so much more interesting. My kids gave us one of those bird cameras for Christmas and the whole family is enjoying it! We love it. Hugs, C
There’s so many accounts to go through to prepare our taxes. I wish we had a more organized life and I was tracking expenses on a monthly basis. I’ve said that for decades! We have rental properties like you, plus my husband’s business. I swear this year I’ll keep track monthly or quarterly! I’m glad you enjoy the bird camera feeder. I was an early contributor when it was only an idea that my son was working on raising money and doing fulfillment for. He said at the time it was his most successful project.
That’s what the magpies have been doing to my camera feeder. Soon it will be time to take it down until next winter. I’ll be pulling weeds tomorrow—they’re already going nuts and flowering. Ugh! Much too soon. A bike ride on Sunday.
I think you have a perfect weekend. I don’t mind pulling weeds because I’m outside. Also a bike ride is great! Have a good weekend!
beautiful picture 👌
😊
We finished taxes yesterday. Yay. Yesterday I went to see the Oscar nominated doc shorts with my friend and we had great Chai at a Yemeni coffee shop. Today a group of is are going to the Tenement museum. Tomorrow there’s a lecture at the Met.
Yay for finishing taxes. I got a lot done yesterday and should be sending everything into the CPA by Monday. Sounds like you’ve got fun plans!
💕💕
Awesome photo’s . I love it.
😊
Wish you have a great day dear Wickham.
Wow, your wild kingdom is growing. That thrasher is out of line. He should be banned from the feeder. 😂
When I see the thrasher going through the birdseed in the feeder, I go outside to scare him away!
Yeah, he’s definitely a little stinker.
😅
The birds can be so darn messy! Argghhhh!~
You do live in The Wild Kingdom! I’m supposed to be gathering tax documents, but I don’t wanna do it!
I didn’t want to that chore either. Ugh! I am going to try this week to continue with 2026 so I don’t do it all in one week next year. As for the Wild Kingdom, I had seven javelina this weekend and spotted the largest coyote I’ve seen in my life.
Wow! The fun continues! 😳
It’s exciting to see the wildlife, but know they can’t get through our fence!
