I captured a few more bird photos that I really liked over the weekend. I like how I caught the dove in flight as it wanted to take over a spot at the bird feeder.
A house finch caught my eye in the Firestick plant. Then it flew to a cactus. I really like the background of the photos. I’m trying to focus on the overall photo rather than just the subject.

Which house finch photo do you like better?

This squirrel found a perfect spot to sit upon a rock.

I cleaned and refilled the bird bath and a mourning dove was much appreciative of my efforts.

Red is hanging out daily immediately after I fill the feeder.
I had a great visit with my daughter. My only complaint was that it was too short. The mountain passes are clear so her drive home shouldn’t be too bad. She motivated me to take better care of myself. She’s on me to ice and elevate more often — as well as continue with my PT for my ankle.
My daughter was impressed that when I go outside the birds arrive and sing. She said, “They recognize your voice! That’s amazing.”
The secret is to keep the bird feeders filled.
Here’s to a good week ahead and getting the taxes done!

Do you have a favorite photo today?
Are you in danger of the storm?

Regarding backgrounds, I think the bird in the firestick plant makes for a pretty impressive photo. But they’re all very nice photos.
My wife feeds birds also, and they get excited whenever she walks outside. She’s even befriended a couple of ravens (not “crows,” as she insists). She goes outside and hollers for them, and they’ll come flying to her from way down the street.
I’m glad you enjoyed the house finch photo. I love downloading photos and seeing what turned out. I’m glad your wife talks to the birds like I do! I call out for Red and he comes flying in or chirping. Crows and ravens are smart birds. I’ve seen a few in the last week.
Soon, they will be perching on her shoulders. 🙂
👍🏼
That’s the time to grab ’em and warm up the saucepan.
🤦♀️!
My husband keeps threatening that about our quail!
I understand. Quail are very good eating.
But these quail are my friends!
Then I would suggest preparing them with a fancy garnish.
Oh my goodness! I told a friend that I found a nest with quail eggs and she asked when I was going to cook them! Seriously…
Heh-heh. There’s nothing cuter than seeing those little quail chicks, the size of popcorn, scrambling around.
They are adorable. I can’t wait for spring!
I like the second photo on the cactus. And may I just say… ouch!
The wind is starting to kick here this morning and we’re an hour away from an all day snow event.
I liked both house finch photos, so I decided to include them. I could pick one over the other.
Stay safe in your winter storm! The news is making it sound significant to say the least.
I think New York and Boston will have the worst of it but we’ll still be battered.
I will look forward to seeing young photos of more snow! We had temperatures in the 30s, but today we’ll be up to 78 degrees. I’m so relieved. I’ve been housebound because of the cold.
Glad to read that the visit was good and that daughter is, in a caring way, mothering her own mom 🙂 My CFP finished my taxes about a week ago. First time every having to also do a state tax. So glad that he is also certified in Colorado as he’s done my taxes for many years.
It was so nice to have her here. We tried to convince our daughter that the casita would be perfect for her full time!
That’s fortunate your CFP is certified in CO, too! Good for you for being all done.
The house finch photo looks amazing. Love how the finch and background come together. Beautiful shots as always Elizabeth.
I love downloading photos from the memory card and seeing something like the house finch. It’s so different from what I’m looking at through the camera. I’m glad you enjoyed it, too!
Great photos, Elizabeth! The Doves fill
The feeder up. Glad that you had a great visit with your daughter too!!
Thanks! Yes, it’s so nice to have my daughter here. But we couldn’t convince her to move in with us!
I think I like the finch with the greens ..the color are so rich. Overall I like the squirrel. Yes ..still snowing here
I was excited to see both house finch photos. The squirrel was kind enough to pose for me 😊 Stay safe!
Thank you!!
😊
Oh these pictures are all excellent Elizabeth. Your daughter is right. Take better care of yourself dear friend
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed the photos. My daughter is calling and checking on me even though she went back home.
A sweet daughter 🌸💞🌸
She is! 💕

We haven’t been using our camera feeder because a squirrel family took it over. I used to have a red-headed house finch that looked a lot like yours. Seeing yours this morning made me smile. I really miss him.
I had to move my feeder because it was too close to a bush that a squirrel climbed up. He managed to get in the feeder. I’m glad you liked the house finch!
I love that the birds sing when you go outside. That might be one of the highest compliments ever! Glad your daughter has clear passes in her route home!
I love hearing the birds sing and greet me too! Yes, I’m so relieved it was an easy 12 hour drive home for my daughter with no snow or ice! She took two days to get home.
They are all good photos, but the cactus one is what really caught my eye. Love it!
And I love that Mr Red has been coming so regularly now.
It’s great that your daughter could come for a visit.
Listen to her and take care of yourself! How the tables turn as we get older and have our children telling us to take care of ourselves! Ever since my heart surgery, my son has been telling me that Alot! Our children care about us! 🙂 My daughter was concerned about the forecast of snow overnight, telling me not to drive anywhere in the morning! 🙂 Fortunately the snow went around us!
I can only imagine how my kids would act if I had heart surgery instead of my ankle and foot surgery this year! Yes, it’s nice to know they care. I’m so glad you liked the house finch photo. I’ve tried for a few days to get that cactus shot, but the bird kept flying away!
Yes, it is, even when you have to hide the cheese. LOL! He isn’t at home anymore, so I don’t hide it. I don’t eat as much cheese as I used too but it is something I love, so I do still eat it. 😊
Your perseverance and patience with the house finch paid off.
Thanks! A little cheese won’t hurt you!
Yes, it’s all about moderation, and my son does get that now. He was just so worried before, which I understand. I would have been the same way at his age about my mom if she had had heart surgery.
We are all about moderation. Our daughter had an eating disorder, so it’s something to reinforce. I can understand your son’s worry!
Oh….I can’t wait until the finches return around here. There are a couple who frequent the ledge outside my office window in the summer. Super darling! And the dove in flight? Wow! What a shot!
Hope you’re taking good care…I like your daughter’s advice! 😉💝😉
It’s so nice to have birds outside your office window. I like to work in the casita because I’m looking at all these birds while I sit at my laptop. I’m following my daughter’s advice and she keeps checking on me!
Love it!!! ❤️🥰❤️
😊 💕
Red is happy and getting smarter—probably inviting the whole neighborhood to the feast you offer every day.
I also like how Red stays off to the side of the camera. I guess he doesn’t want to be a total rock star.
Yes, he’s a humble guy.
😅
I love these! The doves on the feeder and the finch profile on the prickly cactus are especially nice. So glad you had a nice, albeit, short visit with your daughter.
Thanks! It’s such a nice treat to have my daughter for a few days. She has a tiny apartment without a dishwasher and washer and dryer. I kept pointing out that our casita has those and she could move in and stay. She didn’t go for it!
So sweet!! I bet the Bay Area is a lot of fun, so I get wanting to stay, even in a tiny apartment.
Yes, you’re correct. She has her life up there. Plus our son and DIL live a few miles from her.
Loved the first photo of the pigeon in flight. LOL – RED is about to get a big ego, since we all love his photos.
I was so excited to get that photo in flight. Most of times I look at the photos and don’t have a bird in the picture! I’m too slow. Red stays off to the side of the Bird Buddy camera. I’m thinking he doesn’t want to be showy — or he doesn’t like his reflection in the camera.
LOL – What, Red afraid of Selfies?!
Isn’t that funny?
I like them all!
I wish we were getting more storms—last week’s snow is about all gone. I’ve only had three ski days, including today. Unless winter finally arrives in March, skiing is probably done for the season.
That’s too bad. We had such cold weather in the 30s and 40s plus rain. Now we’re up in the 70s. Look at all the snow on the east coast. That storm would have made many ski days for you.
