I watched this squirrel who is much larger than my little Harris’ Antelope Squirrel of the Sonoran Desert. I watched this guy scramble up the chain link fence and dance around the tennis players.
Our trip to help our son post surgery plus spend time with our daughter and DIL, has come to a close. We’ll see them in a few weeks at Christmas, which seems unbelievable! Time flies when you’re having fun.
Here are a few sights I saw on my way to the French bakery near the hotel:

Morning Glories!

This was a Bonzai in front of a house.

A very happy house, indeed!

I think this is some sort of a maple, but I’ve never seen one shaped like this.

At the bakery waiting in line. My son said this is the best bakery in the East Bay.

When a place is good and has a reputation there is a line. I waited in line for 30 minutes for sandwiches. They sold out within an hour Saturday, so Sunday I went right at 11 a.m. when they start selling them. Once inside, I read the sign that said: “Sandwiches Tuesday through Saturday.”

Oh well. I found a few other things to try.

Whew! Back at the hotel with a box of goodies. Ready to visit the kids for one last time before we head home.
Once home, it’s unpacking, laundry, grocery shopping and feeling grounded again.
What on the agenda for your week?

Wow. Impressive.
It was!
Thanks for the superb post 🤗🤗.
I’m so glad everyone seems to be doing well. Safe travels home! I hear there’s rain in the forecast.
We were supposed to have the atmospheric river and rain all week in Berkeley. It was one rainy day and a few showers. I heard we were just above the worst of it. My friend in Santa Barbara had seven inches of rain in one day!
Seven inches of rain in one day? WOW!!
Isn’t that something?
I bet it will be good to get home! We are (fingers crossed) perhaps going to see some snow by the end of the week. The high country is finally getting snow but it’s still iffy for the metro areas. I hope there’s more by Thanksgiving.
I’m reading this prior to breakfast. Those pastries look amazing 🙂
I am looking forward to getting home! It’s going to be a busy week getting caught up, appointments and my photography class, but I’ll be home! The pastries were amazing! I hope you get snow! My friend in Santa Barbara said they got nine inches of rain in one day. We only had one rainy day in Berkeley. The rest missed us.
Lovely morning glories. And clearly that house agrees…
😊
I love being at the coast in California. Morning glories are one of the highlights. I looked over at the house and smiled back.
The food looks so delicious!! Sorry you didn’t get your sandwich. I hope your son is on the mend and well! That squirrel is a bit chubby, I suppose he is breaking into the bakery at night an eating all of those sandwiches! 😂
Every meal I had was delicious. There is better food in the Bay Area than Arizona! I was shocked to see how big the squirrels are here. You gave me a laugh thinking about the squirrel in the bakery.
I’ve never been to that city so I don’t know but I’m sure it was good! I’m glad you laughed! ☺️☺️
They have fresh caught seafood, which is my favorite. Plus local farms for veggies. Everything is fresh. Yes, thanks for the laugh!
☺️☺️☺️☺️
👍🏼
Great pictures! Love how you enjoy the local flavor – of all varieties! Hope you have a great trip home, Elizabeth!
I’m glad you enjoyed my photos from around the hotel and streets. We’re ready to be home now!
Hmmm. Pedicure. Gilded age walking tour at local park. Book club. Two off Broadway shows. Critique and writing and writing classes. And I’m doing laundry now and about to go to trader Joe’s to add a little spice. Croissants look amazing
I need a pedicure, too! I would enjoy the Gilded age walking tour. I hope you post about it. I’ve got shopping to do as soon as I unpack. Plus busy days ahead with photography class and activities with neighbors.
Yay to more photos!!
Thanks! 😊
So many fun pictures! I love the naturally growing bonsai and the happy house!
I’m glad everyone is doing well. 💜
It’s a relief that everyone is healing post surgery! I’m glad you enjoyed the photos. I would smile everyday coming home to a house like that!
Me too!
😊
A happy house. Gotta laugh. Ha, ha.

Oh my…love these pics…and now I’m seriously hungry! Glad to hear about the healing and that you’re on your way home. Yay! xoxoxo! 😊❤️😊
I’m so glad you enjoyed the pictures. I enjoy walking around the Bay Area because it’s so different than our desert. It’s more like the Seattle area where I grew up. Yes, I’m ready to be home! But I’ll miss the kids — and bakery.
LOL! In that order — the kids first and THEN the bakery! ❤️🤣❤️
Yes! I did write it that way on purpose! 😅
😉❤️😉
💕😊💕
Lovely photos Elizabeth 😀 Looks like a great place to stay and relax but the bakery line is amazing
I wish our kids lived closer, but it’s a great place to visit them.
I’m totally drooling over the pastry selection!
Now that I’m home, I missed my morning date croissant or pain au chocolate!
Wonderful sights and it’s wonderful things are going well with your family with more visits in the near future. Enjoy!
Oh I love the happy house. What a cute idea.
Isn’t it?
🥰🥳😀
😊
Great photos, and that house is hilarious!
I could have walked right past that house. Thankfully, I stopped to take photos of the bonzai!
