Red has been hanging out on a consistent basis with Mrs. That’s a relief after he left our yard for the better part of a week. I’m still looking for little Reds, but so far we haven’t spotted any. I sit outside in the early morning cool weather and I think he likes to see me outside. I spent two full weeks without being able to venture outside. That’s when Red disappeared. My husband jumps in the pool in the evenings and said Red flys into a tree overhead and watches and sings.
I’m waiting for the day I get cleared to get in the pool!

Red is my favorite model to photograph, so I’m glad he’s back hanging out in our yard!
This photo of Red and a sparrow make me think of Bonnie Raitt’s song “Something to Talk About.”

Then there’s Mrs. full of spunk.

Here’s Red across the yard on the yellow planter.

This photo surprised me because I noticed the quail but not the lizard when I took it.
Here’s Bonnie Raitt’s song “Something to Talk About.” I’m laughing to myself remembering when she won her 2023 Grammy for “Just Like That” and a headline read: “Shock as Unknown Blues Singer Wins Song of the Year!”
No words!
What photos do you like best and why?

Wonderful photos Elizabeth 😀
The red stands out on the backlit photos
Thanks! Early morning light. Our yard faces east and I love the lighting then.
Early morning and late afternoon are best times for photo light. Especially as the birds are out and about too
So true! I like the morning light because our yard gets too much shade in the afternoon. When I am more mobile post surgery, I’ll be able to take my camera outside and walk around with it and look at afternoon light.
Red with the sparrow is my favorite one. Two dudes hanging out. I remember the BR headline you mention. It made me smile then, still does now.
I wonder what Red and the sparrow were saying? It went on for quite a while. Yes, that Bonnie Raitt headline still makes me laugh.
Great song. But if Red keeps chatting with the sparrow — something tells me that the Missus is going to have something to say about the matter. We could be looking at “Dead Bird Walkin'”. Ha, ha.
Oh, you gave me a good laugh! 😂
Unknown blues singer? WHAT??
I love Bonnie Rait; she’s a classic!
That pic of the lizard and the quail is so darn cute.
I wonder how old that reporter was to write that and had never heard of Bonnie Raitt before? My goodness! Why didn’t the editor or someone in charge catch that? I loved the lizard and quail pic, too.
Bonnie Raitt and quail for the win! A combo I didn’t see coming…but I love! 🥰😎🥰
Ha! Yes, I love Bonnie Raitt — the “unknown.” Plus the quail and lizard was such a cool catch.
😎💕😎
💕💕
So that really is a lizard on the branch? At first glance that’s exactly what I thought but then I looked again and wondered if it was just tree bark sticking up! Red and the sparrow seem about ready to launch into warfare over that seed cake. I think they’re cussing at each other 🙂
I thought it was a bit of bark when I took the photos. Then looking at them on my computer, I could see it was a lizard! What a surprise. I think you are right that the sparrow was cussing out Red.
You have a little zoo in your backyard! Always enjoy the photos.
Thanks! It keeps me entertained and working on my photography.
Unknown Blues singer….🙄
Unbelievable. I wonder if the writer kept her job?
I wonder too.
👍🏼
All your photos are beautiful, but the one with quail and lizard is just wonderful
Thank you! It was almost a silhouette.
It’s so good.
👍🏼
Love how you brought Bonnie Raitt into this, Elizabeth! I didn’t see the lizard either until I read your caption. How incredible!
I was wanting to add that Bonnie Raitt song to my instagram post, but couldn’t figure out how to do it. It was in my head when I wrote this yesterday. I wonder what the lizard was doing up in the tree?
I like Mrs full of spunk. She looks like she’s talking to you. The way it’s framed gives it layers and dimensions
Thanks! She has been showing a lot of personality lately. I got one photo of her fighting with a dove over the bird seed, but the dove is a blur so I didn’t post it.
Whoa! Amazing photos this week! The lizard was an adorable surprise! Well done! And I love Bonnie Raitt!
Thank you! I’m so glad you enjoyed my photos and Bonnie Raitt!
Very beautiful
Thank you 😊
