This is Buddy, a rescue dog.
Last week I wrote about our pets we adopted on Thanksgiving in years past. This year, we visited friends and met Buddy. I would have taken him home — if our friends allowed it. Buddy was a rescue dog who is seven years old. According to our friends, he was being abused by his owner. The owner’s daughter already had several dogs and cats and couldn’t keep him. I’m not sure how our friends found him, but they are fortunate they did.
He was the most delightful, happiest little creature I’ve ever met. He was so happy to greet us. Happy to sit by us. Thrilled to go for a walk. His entire little body vibrated with his happiness that he shared with us.
We’ve spent many Christmas and Thanksgivings with our friends of 30 plus years. They moved to Arizona before us and have a new home two hours south of us. It’s the first time we’ve visited them in their new home by Tucson and we laughed and shared stories the entire weekend — with Buddy enjoying every moment.
Here’s a view of the dramatic mountains near Tucson while out walking with Buddy.
Did you enjoy your Thanksgiving weekend with family and friends? Who was “Buddy” during your weekend?
I’m glad buddy was rescued. He is so adorable.
He is adorable and has such a great personality.
Lucky dog and his new owners
Our friends are wonderful to Buddy and he brings them so much joy.
That’s how it should be
👍🏼
Buddy looks like a sweetheart. I’m so glad that he has found a good, forever home. My son and DIL have Lila, their rescue who came from Texas over the summer. She is mid size and believes she owns the entire couch so you either get her rear end shoving you into a corner, or she simply drapes herself over you, thus being trapped until she decides to move.
Buddy is a precious puppy. I laughed at Lila owning the sofa.
Yes, she’s sort of taken over, although she does well if directed to get off the couch and lay in her own bed.
Buddy loved the sofa too, but he’s small and can cuddle right in next to you.
Buddy looks precious! So happy he’s found a better home.
Our friends lost their longtime Maltese to old age. This is perfect for all of them including Buddy!
Oh, hello there, Buddy! So glad you had a wonderful trip…and meeting a new furry friend – as delightful as sweet buddy? The best! xo! 🥰
Buddy is pure delight and happiness rolled into a little ball of fur. Such a fun trip! 😊
Yes…that came across in your post so well…especially his excited shake and shimmy routine – so happy to be around loving humans. xo, Elizabeth! 🥰
What a better life for Buddy and he adds so much joy to his new family.
🥰🥰🥰
💕
OMG! He looks so much like Biscuits!! And he has Buddy’s name! What a fun coincidence! I hate that he was being abused! That breaks my heart. 🖤
That’s exactly what I thought when I saw your post yesterday. Buddy looks like Biscuits and has your other dog’s name. Isn’t it despicable that someone could hurt a dog?
Yes. I thought about this all afternoon. It’s so sad.
We had a neighbor who had Belgian Malinois that barked all the time. Their neighbor over their wall, took it and tried to break its voice box. Unbelievable. That was in our old neighborhood.
OMG!
Fortunately, the owner got his dog back and it is healthy.
woof. a hero. play two sons from tucson on the box.
It’s hard to imagine that anyone could abuse a dog. I’m so happy that Buddy found the loving home he deserves.
We really liked Tucson when we visited earlier this month. I could envision renting a place for a few or more weeks just to explore.
How anyone could hurt that sweet pup is unbelievable. It was a beautiful area and reminded me so much of where we live in north Scottsdale. Except their mountains are more dramatic.
Lucky dog, lucky family! We feel that way with our new dog, Hunter, we rescued in February. He’s our Thanksgiving “buddy”!
I’m so happy you have Hunter as your new buddy. Buddy was such a fun dog to be around.
Buddy is so cute! It’s always distressing to hear about poorly treated animals so I’m so glad that he found such a wonderful home. And that you had a great Thanksgiving!
What an amazing dog to survive abuse like strangulation for years and be so happy. He must be relieved every moment of his life. I’m sure you had a wonderful Thanksgiving, too!
Buddy is a cutie pie!
He has so much personality!
Aww, Buddy looks so friendly! What a cute pup! 🐶
He was a joy!
He’s adorable. Oh such a sweet face.
He oozes love and joy. He must be so relieved to be living with kind people.
What a wonderful, uplifting post! Buddy is adorable and I’m sure he is thankful for the opportunity to be loved and cared for by your friends. 💜 We traveled to be with my mom over Thanksgiving and brought her one granddaughter and two great grands!
It sounds like you also had a wonderful uplifting Thanksgivig!
The post and the comment reminded me of Aaron Easterly’s words “Name one development in the history of humankind that has increased happiness more than the domestication of dogs.” 🐶 💗
That’s fabulous!
Now that’s a good dog story, comes from abuse, found a loving home and is a delight to all. Love your tradition of celebrating with friends, that you all moved to the same state, and can see each other whenever you want. That image of Tucson is beautiful. We loved celebrating our anniversary in Tucson and participating in the annual Tucson Ride. What a gorgeous area in which to live. Hugs, C
I think our friend in Oro Valley rode in the event too. He does every year. Buddy is so happy. I wonder if he was that good-natured in his previous abusive life? Or is he so thrilled now to be loved?
