While you’re looking at some of my favorite houses at the beach, I’ll be headed home. I’ve been missing my home, but I’m sure I’ll miss this beach once I’m standing on desert sand. I got the most of my last few beach days with multiple beach walks and sitting on the beach to watch sunsets. I felt like I needed to get my fill of beach time until next summer.
Here are a few of my favorite homes on our favorite beach:
This is my number one home I would like to move into and live happily ever after! I like the roof lines, the shake shingles and the tree! This home reminds me of the home I grew up in on Lord’s Hill in Snohomish, Wash.
This is a pen and ink drawing I made of my childhood home for an art class in college. it doesn’t really look like the beach home above, but it shares some of the same roof lines, shake shingles and windows.
My son’s favorite house is next door to mine. What’s really unique is you can look through the front windows clear through the home to the garden behind the house. It’s beautiful.
This is the Kutcher house almost finished after a remodel.

This little cottage is hidden behind a sand dune.
I noticed this home for the first time this week! I have walked by it without seeing it for years.
Below is another home I’ve never noticed before. Love it. I took this photo with my Nikon on later walk. It’s next door to the Lucas house.
I can only imagine how beautiful the views are from all those windows!

Well Kevin Costner’s house is high on a bluff, so that one would be safe.
What fun to walk a lovely beach and admire so many homes. Most seem to have a mid-century modern vibe so I wonder what they look like inside? Maybe next summer you can just go knock on a few doors and be invited in 🙂 🙂 I think of all the homes I like the George Lucas the best.
The George Lucas home was the controversial one because he tore down a mid century famous architectural home to build the Cape Cod home. The community had protests over it. But it is a pretty home. Plus he owns the property. It’s his to do what he wants.
How funny, because this makes so much sense for me. I’m not very much of a mid century style fan, but love a great Cape Cod style. I can see how the aesthetic might upset the community but I would clearly have backed George in his choice 🙂
I would too for the sake of property rights. Even though I liked the former house better.
California beach homes are so modern. Very different from our waterfront properties in New England. Have to say, I think I like Kutcher’s better before than after.

It is so pretty! We drive a couple miles to this beach and enjoy it best for beach walks send to watch the sunsets.
I like the blue house too. It’s not ostentatious. it looks like people who live their enjoy their surroundings and home.

Yes. I love that tree and house. My son’s favorite house is on the opposite side of the tree. I’ve been staring at the tree and house for dozens of years and never seen anyone there.

We saw people for the first time on the patio of my son’s favorite home, but never at mine. Thankfully, after nine hours of driving we’re in my most favorite place — home sweet home! 💕

Our home feels wonderful! Space. A dishwasher and all my comforts. Plus Red was singing to me and I got some photos!

Fun! I think maybe the Lucas house? Looks older. Has a round turret? So glad you have had a good beach vacation!
The Lucas house is old style Cape Cod but was built in 2012. Not too old! He tore down a gorgeous midcentury masterpiece by a famous California architect. The residents of this area were so upset with him and protested the plans at City Hall and other meetings. The house does look like it fits now.
Beautiful photos, and it’s interesting to see George Lucas’ home. His Skywalker Ranch is in our neck of the woods. When my kids were little, we ran into him in a local frozen yogurt shop. It was fun. 🙂
We’ve seen George Lucas out on his porch waving to people. I wonder how much time he spends there?
