This is the view from our airbnb living room. The little cottage we have rented for nine summers has the feel of a tree house. The living room is upstairs at tree level overlooking the ocean. This is the one photo I took in this grouping with my Nikon and telephoto lens. The rest of the photos were taken with my iphone walking on the beach. I hope you enjoy a taste of California beach life.

This is our favorite beach to take walks and sit and watch the waves. This view is looking north.

There’s a canal along the walk and I caught this gull relaxing on a piece of drftwood.

This is the glimpse of the beach from the walkway that takes us to the beach. Ellen Degeneres used to own the house to the right of the fence, but sold it to have more privacy. It’s a gorgeous house by the way and sold last year for $35 million. Click on the link for a news story and photos.

The white house at the end of the beach is Kevin Costner’s estate. The tide gives him plenty of privacy because the beach is under water near his property.

We went out to dinner with friends and came back to our cottage to see this sunset out the side window.

A southward view of the beach.

I believe these are Willets but not quite sure. There are so many similar looking shore birds.

Father and son walking and talking.

I made them stop and pose. It’s such a joy to have our son and daughter-in-law join us for some relaxing beach time.
Which photos do you like the best? What are your plans for the weekend?

Lovely pictures Elizabeth.
Thank you! It’s a beautiful place to be.
It sure is wonderful.
💕
Looks like you picked the perfect vacation spot!
Lovely views… and family.
💕
It is perfect for us! Love this location.
Very nice. I am at home recuperating from surgery and played the video of the snowy egret and then I realized the photo is of your husband and son! Very nice. Enjoy the surf and the day! On this end, things are improving and soon will start PT. Michael is off to another appointment but during my stay, he was doing fine and is able to help me. Things are good.
Having just had hip replacement, I feel inspired by the photo of your husband as he just had surgery and also replacement! Right now, we are focusing on eating lots of iron rich foods as Michael is again low in iron.
My husband’s knee finally settled down. I’m glad we planned this trip so late in the summer or it wouldn’t have worked.
Yes, you are very fortunate! I hope we also will have the same opportunity to travel a little or at least day trips after we are both healthier!
I hope so too for both of you!
It sounds like your surgery went well. I’m glad your husband could help you in your recovery.
Thank you! That was a biggie. He came every day, sometimes he visited the hospital also with his appointments but his energy level is good. Very important! Ironically, his blood is very low right now after my 7 day stay at the hospital, so he is now with the Fellow (new person) and seeing about things he has to do. I am waiting and then will get ready for my PT to begin next week after I know his schedule as he is my driver. It has been a challenge, but we are getting there, slowly! Thank you!
Seven days in the hospital. Wow! That’s a long time. All the best to your husband.
Thanks. I did not mind as I was concerned about the husband’s health but they took good care of me. I guess they had their reasons and I left in good shape. Michael picked me up and we went home!!
That sounds so good.
Yes, my surgery went well and the pain is manageable. The hospital took good care of me. I was very impressed with the level of care from the nurses, docs and staff.
That sounds all positive!
Beautiful EA!
Thanks! It’s gorgeous!
A beautiful location, I see why you guys go there each year! The first photo has what looks like the same Yucca we have way up here in the Mojave, Elizabeth. Thanks for sharing the beauty! ❤️
I’m glad you enjoyed the photos. We started going to this area years ago to visit friends who live here. That was 40 years ago! They are still here. Then our son went to UC Santa Barbara and we began our annual beach vacations here.
Beautiful! I especially love the first photo with the vivid blues.
Thanks! It’s such a lovely feeling to look out the living room windows and see that view.
Oh yea, I’m in love with California beach life! Love the house Elizabeth. I can see why you keep coming back. So happy for you that you get to spend some family time! Enjoy. And yes, we can’t wait to hear how the Costner’s and the Kutcher’s invite you into their homes! Take lots of pics🤭🤭🤭🤣🤣🤣😎😎
Haha! I’m not sure I’ll get the invite from the stars this year! It’s a beautiful beach and off the beaten path so it’s empty most of the time.
That’s the part I love the most. The seclusion. I think that’s the harder thing to find on the east coast. At least the places we typically go to.
We have our fair share of crowded beaches in California. We used to vacation in Laguna and it was packed. Our friends who live here showed us this quiet beach years ago. Because there are no facilities, people prefer beaches in the cities to this one.
What an incredible beach! Love the gull on the driftwood! I’m so glad you are enjoying your time!
It is an incredible beach. We are taking two long beach walks a day and that feels so good. In the desert, it was too hot to walk even in early morning. This is so good for me!
Looks like you had a great time. I like the Snowy Egret video
I like how the Snowy Egret moves. I need to get a video of one in flight. Our vacation is just beginning! So far, so good.
It is good to have a quest while holidaying
