Finally Red was hanging out long enough for me to get some photos of him. While I’m healing and recovering from surgery, Red was the sight I needed to make my day!
More photos of Red:

We put together the shepherd’s hook to hang the new Bird Buddy feeder. But it wasn’t working right. There was something definitely wrong.

Mrs. waiting for her turn in the new Bird Buddy.

I don’t know why the shepherd’s hook placed the feeder mere inches from the ground. It was low enough for a squirrel to jump on the roof. I was afraid he was going to get stuck inside with the camera. He’s definitely not very bright. All he needed to do was turn around and jump into the tray of seeds.

I hung the feeder on this massage tool which securely hooked around a branch of the tree. But before I could hang the feeder, Mrs. hopped on it to try it out. It worked out well to have the feeder there, but we may want to use the massage tool to get the knots out of our backs!

Voilà! I looked at the instructions for the shepherd’s hook and realized my helpful husband installed the hardware that attaches to the fence upside down.
Mrs. finally got her turn in the Bird Buddy. This movie was taken when the bird feeder was low to the ground.
I didn’t like this placement of the camera because the sun causes too much glare.
Do you have a favorite Red photo?
Do you think there’s any upside to letting my husband know he messed up on the shepherd’s hook? Or do I let him notice on his own that it’s in a new position?

Good to see Red and Mrs back and being their cute, interested selves! I had to laugh at the squirrel, remembering what the WA squirrels used to do to get to the seed. I think our gray squirrels were much larger though than yours so I was always waiting for them to destroy feeders. My vote is just wait and see if your husband notices the difference in the position of the feeder. If he does you can just say “nope that’s how we installed it. You must have forgotten.” 😉
I like your answer about what to tell my husband. That made me laugh! I am thrilled to have Red and Mrs. back. I wonder if they found a new feeder and yard while we were on vacation? The squirrels here are way smaller than WA gray squirrels. They are the size and look like chipmunks. One did get in the feeder yesterday, because the shepherds hook drifted into the bush and the squirrel climbed up to get birdseed.
Lovely to see your favorite cardinal back. He looks gorgeous and the red color is so vibrant.
Thank you! I discovered that Red comes late in the afternoon. Now I know when to look for him. He is a gorgeous color!
Yes, very striking red
Yes, it’s a gorgeous red. 😊
🌹♥️🌹
😎
That first photo is perfection!
👍
Thanks! Red’s personality is so much fun. I think he sees me with the camera and poses.
I miss cardinals. We don’t have our camera feeder working this winter because of the hawks, so it’s good to see your pictures. 💜
I’m glad you enjoy my photos. I’m enjoying having two feeders up and running. I put my original one away for the summer and then forgot about it until a few weeks ago. I’m so thrilled to see Red and Mrs. in our backyard.
I like the photo with his wing in the air. Cool look. And no. No upside
I was excited to get a picture of Red in flight, even if I didn’t get all of him. I’m glad you enjoyed that one, too. As much as I want to point out to my husband that I fixed his mistake, you’re right. There is no upside to pointing out his error. That’s probably a good thing to keep in mind regardless who or what it is.
Agree. Never worth it long term
👍🏼
I love cardinals!! 🥰 They’re beautiful, timid birds. I love how they’re almost always with their companion. I love to hear their song, but I frequently know they’re around by the “tick tick” noise they make.
What a great movie of the Mrs. enjoying her sunflower seeds!! 😍
I wouldn’t tell hubby. 🤫 Let him notice on his own. 😉
Cardinals are my favorites too. I love their songs and you are right about their tick tick noise. That’s how I know they are around. Red and Mrs. have been very flighty lately. They used to hang out for longer times.
All the photos of Red are great! It’s so incredible to see such vivid color amongst all the typical beige and sage of the desert.
Red is so striking. Mrs. is in her own way. I spot her by her tail feathers which are more colorful than her body. I feel so fortunate to have Cardinals living nearby. I still think they are in a cholla in the wash behind our yard.
There are so neat! I never saw them in AZ until maybe 3 years ago. I can’t help wonder if they’ve always been here, or if the migrated from elsewhere and decided to stay. Regardless, they’re always such a delight!
I saw Cardinals in our yard around the same time you’ve seen them. I heard about a neighbor who had a Cardinal who he could call by name and he’d land near him. I wanted to write a story for our newsletter and have a photo, but the neighbor wasn’t interested. Then Red and Mrs. showed up in our yard!
He will probably notice. We were at the hospital today most of the day for catscan, MRI, etc. A little challenging. Afterwards, Mike and I had a late breakfast. So glad it is over. Met a few interesting people to talk with. Now, we are going to relax a bit.
My husband is back in our old town meeting with clients. So he’ll be back soon. I won’t say anything and see if he notices. I hope everything goes well for your husband’s check ups.
Thanks, they are checking a few things right now. We should know soon.
🙏
Oh wow, so adorable. I love how you have a little array of creatures hanging out. I love that first pic of Red, he seems to be judging the camera lol.
I’m glad you enjoy them. Yes, it looks like Red is judging me and the camera, trying to decide whether it’s safe to stay.
The first picture made me think of the Coneheads from SNL.🙂 It was fun to see the quail scurrying around behind the fence during the Mrs. video.
Maybe your husband won’t notice the change?
That’s funny about the Coneheads. I forgot about them but you’re right. I wonder if my husband will notice? He works from home and I’m the one spending time outside with the birds.
Oh, I love the way Mrs turns her head sideways as she eats. And Red is looking sharp – like he just got his feathers done!
Funny about the Shepherd’s hook. I’ve done things like that!!
Hope your healing is going well!
Red is looking mighty handsome lately. Maybe it’s because I haven’t seen much of him. Mrs. is a character, too. What’s fun with the Bird Buddy feeders is I get to see more of them. They are coming into the yard when I might not be looking, but the cameras catch them. I’m getting a little frustrated with my boot. But I see the doctor Tuesday, will have my stitches out and maybe be done with the boot altogether. So it’s only a few weeks recovery. I shouldn’t complain!
Love that Red showed up to brighten your day! The first shot of him is my favorite. The way he is cocking his head cracks me up. 😃
He is such a character and making lots of appearances in my new Bird Buddy.
He keeps the smiles coming! 😃
😊
You almost missed it, but I like the one with Red flying. I think you should tell him. We men need all the help we can get. 😁
I’m glad you liked that photo! Glad I didn’t miss it altogether😁
It was a nice shot.
Okay, I’m reading your posts in reverse order, but Red is simply fabulous! I think my favorite shot is the first one with his head to the side. It looks like he’s checking you out.
Red is my favorite. I’m so excited he’s returned to our yard.
