This is a view of the park we have in the center of the little town of Carefree, population 3,672. There’s a playground, the Carefree Desert Gardens and one of the largest sundial’s in the country. Friday means that I visit Carefree for the farmer’s market. I look forward to that each fall when the weather cools down and I can buy fresh veggies. (All photos are from my iphone, except for the one of the sundial which I googled and snagged off the internet.)

The Carefree Sundial located on Easy Street in the Carefree city center is 35 feet tall. Oh yes, it works!

This is the slide at the playground. I was surprised one Friday morning to see my outgoing, social neighbor with her little fluffy white dog Rascal going down the slide over and over. Rascal going down the slide that is, not my neighbor.

There is artwork throughout Carefree’s city center. I’ve taken a few photos of the sculptures found throughout the circle on Easy Street.

We purchased this sculpture for our house, of course in a more practical size. It was made by a local Carefree artist and only 10 of the smaller statues were made.

A bit of Carefree history.

The Carefree city center has water features, too, which is a welcome sight in the desert. My DIL, who went with me to the farmer’s market on a visit commented on how water is a priceless item in a desert, hence it’s prominent feature in the town. Words of wisdom.
I hope you enjoyed my tour of Carefree and the sights on Easy Street.
Happy Friday! What plans do you have for the weekend?
I had to add “Carefree Highway” from Gordon Lightfoot to this post.

Awesome park.
It’s a lovely place. Such a nice surprise when we moved here.
What a lovely place for a farmers market.
But damn it, now I totally want a reptilian slide.
😉
I think your kitty would love a reptilian slide! What a great idea.😊
I wish to be here☺️☺️.
😊
That lizard slide is so cool!
Isn’t that something? The kids love it. So did my neighbor’s puppy.
What great photos! I remember visiting that gila monster slide when I was a little kid! I had no idea where it was, so this made my day. How fun!!
Wow. That’s amazing that you remember the gila monster slide. That makes my day, too!
I was always under the impression that it was at Superstition Springs Mall, and was disappointed I couldn’t find it a decade ago when I went looking. So,this is awesome! I may need to take nieces. 😊
We were at the Superstition Springs Mall before we moved here and were staying in a hotel. It was during COVID and we were looking at properties with our realtor. I love where we ended up. You should take your nieces to Carefree. Maybe on a Friday morning when they have the Farmer’s Market. Or this weekend, they have an art show.
Yes, I will absolutely do that! I take them to McCormick Still Railroad Park all the time, which I also have fond childhood memories of. But I think Carefree would be a blasts!
We had friends who lived in Phoenix when our kids were young. We visited the McCormick Still Railroad Park when they lived here.
Such a beautiful park!! I’d love to be there. ❤️
Thanks! It’s a beautiful little park. The people are so friendly, too.
That’s wonderful! ❤️
👍🏼
What a beautiful park!
Thanks. I love being next door to Carefree. It’s such a cute little town. Fridays are a highlight for me to go to the farmer’s market.
Yes, small farmer’s markets need support as do small parks!
I used to call it the farmer market because it had one farmer. Now it has two. But there are artisans, bakers, and assorted other tents to browse.
And it does not seem to be too busy! Enough for you to get around easily.
It’s very tiny and uncrowded.
Thanks for the visual tour of Carefree. It is a beautiful place.
Thanks! I’m very happy we moved here.
You’re very welcome
😊
Some dreams come true and some don’t. But if you have a desire, everything is possible.
👍🏼
Sorry, I’m a bit emotional. I can’t bear to see anyone in pain, especially little children.
LOL…”Rascal going down the slide…not my neighbor…”
Thank you for the best chuckle of the afternoon, Elizabeth! 😊🤣😊
I’m glad you enjoyed it! Rascal had so much fun. I haven’t thought of taking Waffles there. I don’t think he’ll be game for going up or down the slide!
If he does…do the slide…I’d better see some pics! 😜🥰😜
I may see what he does. But Waffles is more than stubborn. For treats he may agree to give it a try.
What a fun name for a city! Love the slide, and I bet your neighbor’s dog had fun. 🙂
That certainly is a large sundial. Cool, that it works!
I had to get a PO Box there so I could have an address on Easy Street in Carefree. We are one street away and have a Scottsdale address that isn’t nearly as exciting.
Haha!
Easy Street in Carefree. Perfect names for a fairytale! 😉
You are free to use them 😊
Thanks! 🙂
I wrote about the funny names of streets in Carefree. Here’s a link to the post and who and how they were named. https://bleuwater.me/2024/12/09/fun-facts-about-carefree/#:~:text=Carefree%20has%20some%20of%20the,specialty%20crafts%20stores%20and%20more.
I especially like Ho, Hum and Nonchalant.
Ho Hum and nonchalant. Too funny! Thanks for the link! My imagination is going! 😉
Great names.
They definitely are. 🙂
Such a pretty park! I love that sundial.
It’s really a nice place to go to a farmer’s market, the post office, and have lunch or shop.
That slide is amazing! How funny to see a dog going down it. Great pictures of Carefree. Thank you, Elizabeth!
It was really funny to see the dog going down the slide. Especially when I realized it was my neighbor from three houses away that I went to the movies with recently! I’m glad you enjoyed Carefree pictures. I’m going to revisit “Carefree Highway” by Gordon Lightfoot.
Neat place! The Gila monster slide is rather unique.
Tonight is dinner out and the symphony for us.
The first time I saw the Gila monster slide I thought it was too scary for kids. Since then, I see kids and the neighbor’s puppy loving it! Have fun at dinner and a symphony. Sounds wonderful.
Well, I, late to the party, but we went to an historic house, saw Bugonia, and saw off broadway play Archduke
Wow, as usual you get a lot of activities in.
Why do I love listening to Gorden Lightfoot so much? I don’t know, but I’m not gonna stop!
I recall visiting Carefree a few times during our short residence in Glendale; and it was always a fun visit! Who doesn’t want to live on Easy Street in a town called Carefree?
I love that Rascal was utilizing that slide, which is the coolest one I’ve ever seen!
Thanks! That’s so nice to know you enjoyed Carefree and Gordon Lightfoot!
