After several hours, I finally got my new scanner to talk to my laptop. This was the first photo I scanned. It’s of me and my kids, one of my best friends and her two girls, plus assorted kids we brought along with us for a beach day.
I’ve spent this week going through my half dozen photo boxes, looking for pictures to include in my photography project of Memory and Meaning: Sea Glass.
If you missed my description about Sea Glass and my project, I wrote about it HERE.
Going through all my old photos from summers’ past, brought back so many memories of a life I’ve left behind. Carefree days of summer, hanging out with my kids. Every year, I’d take photos of them together for our Christmas cards. It always took more than a few days to get something good. Sometimes they’d cooperate, other times they enjoyed torturing me with their silly faces or looking away.
Here are a few photos from my beach memories. I haven’t decided yet what gets included in my Memory and Meaning Sea Glass project. All of the photos spark memories and have meaning to me.

Angus at the cottage. He wasn’t allowed inside, but at our home he was. It was a difficult transitiion for him, but he loved being near us.

This is the cove where we collected sea glass.

Our daughter with a handful of sea glass. Her preferred method was diving under waves for it.

Boogie boarding was always a hit.

When they were young.

Then I had one teen and a preteen.

College-aged kids. Where did the time go? Now they’re grown ups!

The bootlegger’s house was second from the end. Because of the bootlegger and a shipment of his booze that went overboard from his boat, this cove is filled with sea glass.

A handful of sea glass in unusual colors.
Happy Friday!
What are your plans for the weekend?

Great pictures!!! Hmmm….we are supposed to get a nor’easter, so probably a lot of movies. Well, lots of movies anyway. Roofman, kiss of the spider woman, dinner with friends. Supposed to go leaf peeping in central park and the aquarium, but will let mother nature decide that
We have six days in a row of rain which is equivalent to your nor-easter here! Lots of movies sounds fun. I’m flying up to SF to take care of my daughter post her surgery. I hope I don’t have delays due to weather or the shutdown.
Crossing my fingers for easy travel for you
Thanks!
Wonderful pictures! Enjoy your weekend!
Thanks!
I had an old flash drive downloaded some pics from the Middle East and it must have been too many and it corrupted the file. On the positive side, I will never forget the memories and I have a few of the more important pictures.
That’s too bad you lost the pics on the flash drive. Memories always work and it’s good you have a few pictures.
Great pictures, and what special memories your kids must have! This weekend, I’ll be going to the farmer’s market, the AZ naturopath fair, seeing a Southwest Shakespeare production of 1984, and enjoying the rain.
Thanks! I enjoyed looking through my memories. I’ve found special ones of friends at baby showers, camping trips and other special events that I scanned in and shared with them. Your weekend sounds busy. I’m headed to the farmer’s market this morning.
Lovely pictures. How quickly the kids grow up. Love the sea glass. I’ve seen it for the first time.
Thanks! I enjoyed looking through our past summers. The sea glass I’m trying to find new ways to photograph.
You’re welcome 😇
Lots of great photos and memories EA! At this moment I have no plans and I’m okay with that 😉
I like no plans best. When I have too much on the schedule I get stressed.
Oh love going back in time and rummaging through old pictures. So cool to do. Thanks for sharing.
It’s fun to have a scanner to be able to share photos with friends and family, instead of having the photos stuck in an album. This summer, I emptied all the albums and put photos in boxes. Now I can share them, too.
Wonderful photos for what sounds like a fun project.
As much as I love my phone and the instant access to my pictures, I do have a fondness for sitting with old photo albums and physically flipping through the years…
I emptied out my albums because they took up the guest closet shelves and several of my bookshelves. I threw out some pics and put others in photo boxes. Because of my photography class, I invested in a flatbed scanner and I’m going through photos again to scan some. I should throw out more!
Should do that as well..
should.
😉
It took breaking my ankle and being laid up for a few months for me to get to it!
What great pictures! So much context and rich material for your project. Nice work getting the scanner to talk to your computer!
Love the photos of your kids and what a beautiful spot by the sea!
Pictures do hold so many memories! 💕
Good luck deciding which pictures to use for your project. Excited to see the end result 😊
So fun to go through old photos, right?! I have a few obligations tomorrow and a presentation to work on Sunday—and it is supposed to rain a lot! I had a gray time driving through Colorado the past two days and seeing amazing fall colors!
I loved going through the old photos. I’m hoping I can use some of them for my photography project.
We have six days of rain forecast. I’m flying tomorrow to the Bay to take care of my daughter post shoulder surgery. I’m hoping the rain doesn’t cause travel problems.
Wonderful photos, and it’s so fun taking a trip down memory lane. How do the kids grow so fast? The sea glass is beautiful too.
Thanks so much! They do grow up so quickly. I’m glad you enjoyed the photos.
Wow. I do love some trips down memory lane. Or in this case, trips down memory beach. What a sweet collection of your prior days. Yes, the life we left behind, but how lucky to have had it.
I love the pic of the colorful sea glass—very unusal colors, indeed.
I’m so glad you enjoyed my beach photos. Those were special days in our lives that I’ll never forget.
