Not a happy camper in her carrier.
I made the executive decision to take Olive to the vet yesterday morning. I was waiting to see if she’d get better. Saturday she pooped after we got home. This was good news because the cat sitter said she had not done that in several days. She ate on Sunday. More good news.
Olive has an Rx for laxative and after a few doses, she seemed back to her normal self.
And then she didn’t.
She quit eating, drinking water, peeing and pooping. She’s been lethargic hiding away under the bed in the casita. She’d sneak out to vomit white foam. I didn’t think that was a good sign, so off to the vet.
Because this is a recurring issue with Olive — whenever we go on an extended vacation — the vet treated her symptoms rather than using diagnostic tools like X-ray, Ultrasound and blood work. This happened two years ago and they did all those tests. You should have seen the bill!
Now I’m waiting to see how she reacts to treatment. Waiting and waiting. The vet filled her with fluids, plus vitamins and a pain med. She’s drowsy and I’ll just have to wait some more.
I’m having a stressful day hoping Olive feels better. If she doesn’t get better, than I promised to bring her back for diagnostics.
Do you remember the old fashioned veterinarians we used to have? In our town, one vet would treat cats, dogs, horses and cows.
What do you think of modern medicine for pets?

Oh, poor Olive. I hope it’s just stress and she’ll bounce back after replenishing her fluids. I’ll be saying some prayers for her, and for you as you wait.
Thank you!!! If she’s not better she’ll be back at the vet’s.
This is sad. I hope she gets better soon.
Me too! She looked better this morning, but now she’s back to hiding under the bed.
Poor little kitty 🐈⬛
I feel so sad and worried about her.
I hope the meds work and she’ll be better soon
Thank you! Me too.

Just like in people, stress can exacerbate underlying health issues that on normal days you likely wouldn’t notice. Poor Olive clearly doesn’t do stress but I would also wonder if it’s something more? Take care EA. I hope for everyone all turns out positive and life settles.
This happened to her two years ago and the ultrasound discovered gall stones. So there is something more and they can block the bile ducts. She really doesn’t do stress. In the past stress would result in UTIs. We had Waffles when our daughter studied abroad and he would chase Olive. She was miserable!
Hope Olive feels better. She does not look like a happy camper in your pic. How dare you leave? How dare you take her to the vet? Ha ha.
My days revolve around Olive. But she isn’t happy that we went on vacation. Or about the laxative we have to give her several times a day. Or the trip to the vet. No wonder she’s hiding under the bed.
Oh, poor Olive. I hope she feels better soon. Our dog, Buddy, has been having joint issues this past month. He’s already been to the vet twice. It seems like we just have to be patient, but it’s tough watching them struggle.
Yes. I have to call the vet today and give him an update. I’ll wait to see if anything positive happens. I’m sorry Buddy is hurting.
Thank you. 😘
Oh, I hope she bounces back soon. Poor kitty!
Thank you. I’m seeing slight improvement. She’s out from under the bed. Licked at some wet food and is now in our living room watching birds. Yesterday, she was dehydrated and hiding the entire day.
Crossing fingers all goes well.
Thank you! I’m hoping for this to resolve by tomorrow.
Another crossed fingers for Olive here, too!
I appreciate it!
Pets have no dollar cap. We spend like they are our children. I hope this is something that can be remedied.
Thank you. My daughter has spent a fortune on her pug. He likes to put things in his mouth that make him sick or need surgery! She finally got dog insurance. She watches him, but he’s quick.
Our new puppy pug, Rasputin, likes used dryer sheets. When I open the dryer to fold a load, he sits there patiently waiting for the dryer sheet to inevitably fall out, and then he turns into a raptor. Since I use no dyes/perfumes dryer sheets, I let him go at it. It gives me a few minutes to finish folding in peace.
Ha! Waffles worst was a stick that got stuck in his small intestine.
Hope she gets better soon
Thank you! She ate today, the first time in several days. That’s a good sign.
I think it’s interesting that veterinarian care is very similar to that of humans, but a fraction of the cost (though not cheap by any means). I hope she feels better soon!
Thanks!
Hoping olive feels better. Our cat was sick a few months ago and it crushed me
Thanks. It is crushing. Olive seemed better yesterday. Today not as good.
I’m so sorry. I understand how this feels
Thanks!
Poor Olive, but she is a cat and they do seem to carry on regardless.

Same here. It was more like a James Herriot book than how modern medicine cares for animals. A lot less expensive, too.
Thank you. Yes, the good old days of old fashioned, affordable vets!
