Week One with Waffles

Palo Verde in bloom.

A Jumping Cholla with blooms. You want to keep your distance from this cactus!

Fairy Duster plant in our front yard.

A neighbor’s Aloe plant with beautiful yellow blossoms. We have Aloe, but none have flowers.

Now for a special treat for Waffles:

Waffles gets a treat, a carrot, but doesn’t know how to eat it.

What were some of your highlights this past week?

  1. I love seeing the plants that surround you EA! So glad that Waffles is adjusting and enjoying visiting. I heard from my oldest just after your first post. Her older dog has been having problems plus needed dental work and before all that the vet confirmed that she has CHF and an enlarged heart. They had a midnight scare with here and sweet Coco is now on meds for the rest of her life. She’s a small terrier mix of some sort and was also having joint issues so guess who now has a stroller like Waffles! Their Yorkie tags along inside as well 🙂 Daughter told me the same story that you wrote about- watching the world go by from inside and then having a joyous time when they get out to sniff and pee 🙂

    • I’m sorry for your daughter to go through so much with their dog. Waffles had to have teeth pulled not too long ago. It’s a good thing my daughter has pet insurance! I’m glad the doggie stroller is working for your family.

      • Thanks EA. Being a nurse she is hyper aware and those two dogs are her kids along with her human girls. I don’t think they have pet insurance (I should ask) but she does comment about how many airline miles she’s accruing on her Southwest card for all the vet visits 😉

  2. The plants you see in your world fascinate me. Nothing like them in the midwest. Thanks for sharing your photos + the Waffles photos. He’s all that…

    • I’m amazed at the plants here too. They are nothing like what I grew up with in Washington or had in my decades in Palm Springs. Waffles is all that, but kitty will be happy when he goes away.

  3. Does waffles always take his treats to the carpet to eat? I had a pug, and I would give him his treats over the tile for obvious reasons. But he preferred to take them to the carpet to enjoy. I noticed Waffles did the same thing!

    • The first time he did that, I knew I had to capture it on video. He loves carrots but his snaggle teeth can’t manage them. I have to cut them into tiny pieces.

  4. Waffles with a carrot – so cute!! I love that he’s sleeping through the night. Dogs are a lot of work – but they do facilitate new adventures and friendships. Love that Waffles week 1 was good! You are a good grand-pup-parent! <3

    • I’d like to give the stroller to my daughter, so if his injury goes on or pops back up again, she can use it. She’ll be here this weekend to pick up her pup. We’ll figure it out.

  5. Waffles is adorable and I’m glad things are transitioning well. Love the cacti blooms and other plantings. We just finished the spring blossom season and it was gorgeous!
