Walking around our yard yesterday, I noticed that flowers are peeking out around me. We’ve had a super wet winter with thundershowers most evenings. I haven’t been outside to appreciate that the rain has brought us tiny blooms. Spring is in the air!

Beautiful colors add to my daily joy.

I need to learn the names of my plants. I think these are aloes?

Sometimes it’s just a single blossom, but it still adds a pop of color.

Another favorite of mine is the beautiful Cardinal couple who hang out daily in our yard. I think they like my Birdbuddy bird feeder. I’ve learned to appreciate their chirps and beautiful songs.

This is the female Cardinal. Her husband is below.

What signs do you have that Spring is in the air?

Thick, sticky yellow pollen all over my car settling into every crack and crevice. I REALLY need to go to the car wash 😉
Yikes! I remember growing up in Washington my brother suffered so much from allergies.
Yep, I’ve added the Allegra back into my morning vitamin box. That will be necessary until cold fall weather comes back 🙂
Me too! I also use Neil Med sinus rinse.
My eyes are bothered more than anything so the Allegra calms that a bit. I used to use eye drops until the big issues appeared with so many OTC drops causing problems, being contaminated or whatever the issue was so I just let those go. My biggest culprit is definitely tree pollen so in a month or so it won’t be as bad.
My eyes are itchy today! I do use drops if needed.
I just planted bulbs of the kniphofia red hot poker while the husband took apart the garage door opener. Good spring morning and a long weekend!
I’m not familiar with that type of flower, but how nice to plant bulbs. Have a great weekend.
It is a beautiful plant.
Love the colors…and your charming Cardinal couple. We’ve got nothing but that Midwestern landscape of brown grass…with tweaks of green emerging. Thanks for sharing your scenery! 🥰
I love the Cardinal couple. I’m hoping they move in and start a family in our backyard. Your green will be in full force soon.
🌞🌞🌞
Beautiful flowers. The birds are celebrating spring too. Over here my garden is full of colorful flowers. But the weather is getting warmer here and soon it’ll be summer.
Not much spring here yet – expecting a foot of snow on Sunday. (Sigh)
Beautiful! We have much of the same, plus some dutch irises and daffodils. Though, we’re also fighting the stinknet, which has been a real pain.
What’s a stink net?
It’s an invasive weed that’s taking over the valley and choking out native plants. It’s really tricky to get under control. https://www.nps.gov/sagu/learn/news/2024-03-28-invasive-stinknet.htm
Thanks for the link and letting me know about its
Love these beautiful pictures, Elizabeth. Spring is in the air for sure!
I just saw a gorgeous cacti in bloom on my walk. More to come!
Purple flowers! Cardinals! I love it.
We have trees that are beginning to flower already, which is early for us. I am okay with that. 💕
I’m glad you enjoyed my photos. I thought the female was a juvenile, but I looked it up and they are a couple.
Isn’t it funny how females in nature appear less attractive than males (at least by our standards)? Ducks, lions, and cardinals…
Yes, is so fascinating.
The weeds are the first to pop up around here! Lots of yard cleanup to do. Doesn’t matter when snow is on the ground, but now looks pretty ugh.
Lots of signs of spring here too, especially after our wet winter (and more rain due this weekend). That succulent is definitely an aloe… maybe aloe aristata? There are so many different ones it can be hard to identify them (and I have a bunch of succulent books).
Thanks for the aloe tips. I have one botanical book produced by our natures preserve across the street.
Spring is springing up here as well…..a bit early but it’s definitely here since the redbud trees are blooming. I just put in my window screens so I’m sure I’ll have pollen all over the house in a few weeks! Happy Spring!
I have a few screen doors and love having the fresh air in the house — pollen or no pollen.
Gorgeous photos and colors! Spring is slowly arriving here after a lot of rain. But I think the temps are supposed to drop again this week. We shouldn’t complain though because soon enough we’ll be sweating in 90 degree weather. 🙂
We had a downpour today and expect more rain tomorrow. We managed a walk after the rain and I saw more blooms coming out. It will get hot soon enough!
Flowers!!
I’ve seen a few more beautiful ones on cactus since I took those photos.
Stunning! I love your bird camera! I’ve been hinting to the family because my birthday is coming up but I’m not sure they’re taking the bait! We have blossoms galore, tulips, and our first rose of the year. It’s such a beautiful time of year. Hugs, C
I really should plant some roses along our back fence! That sounds so beautiful. Good on luck on the Bird Buddy. I enjoy it so much. They have one out for hummingbirds, too.
