A seagull found the perfect perch on a rooftop at the beach.
I have taken many photos and videos I want to share from sea lions to beach birds, beach and harbor views, the farmer’s market and fish tacos. I think I’ll be posting photos and videos from this vacation after we return home. In the meantime, here are a few photos and videos of wildlife.
We went to dinner by boat the other night and saw sea lions lounging on docks. There’s a little glare from the boat’s window in this pic.
I’ve never seen Mallards in the ocean before. Below is a flock of terns taking off.
My favorite of the photos and videos on this post is the last one of pelicans flying low over the ocean.

This reminds me of Ogden Nash and his famous Pelican limerick my dad used to read to us when we were young:
A wonderful bird is the pelican.
His bill can hold more than his belican.
He can hold in his beak
Enough food for a week,
But I’m damned if I see how the helican.
I have never seen ducks on a beach. Almost as strange as Ravens
We have crows at the beach. But the ducks were a first for me too.

It was a fun day. So glad we got to cruise the harbor, go out to dinner by boat and enjoy sea lions!

They were quite annoyed with us. Our friend drove the boat to the docks to show us the sea lions and they didn’t like being woken up!

I found the lone pelican floating on the waves to be my favorite. Peaceful and relaxing.
I spent so much time watching that pelican. At first I thought he was injured. But eventually he flew away.
So many great bird pictures! My favorite sea bird is a pelican. We have seagulls everywhere here because of Lake Michigan. They always make me smile—their call sounds almost like a laugh.
I will miss these sea birds once we return to the desert this week. Hopefully, my cardinal couple will be waiting for me!

All spectacular but the group of birds at shoreline!
They were really fun to watch as we walked down the beach. They’d be sitting on the sand and when we approached, they’d take off, fly in a circle and land a few yards down the beach. They did that the entire walk one day.
Love the videos. There’s something soothing about listening to waves on the beach.
Sea lions are fun to watch but until I saw them in person I had no idea how loud they could be.
They are loud. They were peacefully sleeping until we snuck up on them and disturbed them.

I have outdoor cameras at home I can access from an app on my phone. I haven’t seen any Red sightings. But then I have to remind myself that I haven’t gone through every bit of footage! Hopefully, he’ll be excited to see me! 😉

It’s been a beautiful beach vacation with lots of time with friends. Time to go home, but we’re more than ready!
